KeymasterHi, Enable the following debug logging feature:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/enable-debug-logging/Then do a test registration. It will show what steps the plugin is performing and if it is sending any email. That will be helpful to see where the setup issue is.
Also, it is a good idea to do the following while doing the above test (to make sure there is no other external conflicts affecting things):

KeymasterProbably better to use the following WP Express Checkout plugin integration. It offers some of those advanced paypal button controls that you are looking for:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/wp-express-checkout-plugin-integration-for-membership-payment/
It’s a free option so you can check it out to see if that works for you.

KeymasterI can see the issue. I will look into updating the code of the plugin so it can work with the new API version. Hopefully, I can have it updated within the next few days.

KeymasterHi, Can you please let me know if you are using the following Stripe button option or the Old option?

What is the Stripe API version that you are using in your Stripe merchant account?

KeymasterFew things to note:
#1) The “Thank You” page is already secure. A user cannot register for a paid level without actually paying properly. Just going to the “Thank you” page doesn’t do anything. You need a special link that is ONLY given to the user after a payment is verified.
However, the real registration flow requires the email to be working. The following page explains the registration flow:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/membership-registration-process-overview/If email is not working on your server, then our membership plugin won’t really be a good solution for you. Try a different plugin that can work without requiring any email functionality.
Email normally doesn’t work due to a mail server setup issue. The following post is useful for email issues:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/forums/topic/email-sending-issue-on-your-site/#2) You don’t need to buy anything for the standard simple registration functionality of our plugin.
#3) You can use the following method of registration and payment handling to improve the process if you think the emails sent from your server won’t work. In this method, the user registers for a free account the makes a payment on the next step. The account is upgraded according the payment that the user makes:

KeymasterWe will add an option for this in the plugin in a future release.

KeymasterNote: The plugin and addons remain compatible with the latest version of WordPress 6.0

KeymasterOur plugin won’t protect pages that you are not protecting from the admin interface of our plugin. Or if you are not using the following addon to protect certain URLs:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/full-page-protection-addon-simple-membership/So what you explained is not a normal behavior for our plugin. There looks to be some kind of conflict on this particular site. The only way to get some idea would be to start doing the following test and try to isolate the source:

KeymasterI have added some screenshots and more clear steps in the following documentation. This uses the latest version of the Poedit software. I followed these steps myself and I don’t see any error. Can you please try the steps and let me know how you go:

September 13, 2022 at 5:39 am in reply to: After Registration Redirection to custom URL not working #24432admin
KeymasterHi, Do you have the “Enable Auto Login After Registration” option checked in the advanced setting?
If you use the Enable Auto Login After Registration feature, it will override the after registration redirection and instead it will trigger the after login redirection. Read the following page that has more explanation on this:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/configure-auto-login-after-registration-members/admin
KeymasterThe standard password reset system is for when a member resets his/her password. If you are manually setting a new password for a profile from the admin dashboard then that won’t automatically trigger a password reset email since it is not a desired functionality (most other site admins don’t want that behavior by default).
When you are setting a new password from the admin interface, you can use the following feature to send a notification email if you wish to:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/send-a-quick-notification-email-to-your-members/admin
KeymasterYou don’t need to use that option anymore. We still keep that option in the settings for older site setup who may still using the old PayPal button option we had in the plugin.
The following paypal button setup option (which is simple and easy in my opinion) was not present back in the day. So there was a different option.
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/create-paypal-buy-now-button-inside-the-simple-membership-plugin/Hope that explains it.
September 8, 2022 at 3:27 am in reply to: After payment user data is stored, but after registration address data is lost #24414admin
KeymasterThank you. The standard registration form of the plugin was originally created to handle just a few essential pieces of information. So it was not capable to handling the address data. I have made a code change to the plugin so it can preserve the address data of a profile (if that data was received from the payment gateway). This should solve the issue you explained in the next release of the plugin.

KeymasterThe email activation feature is used to combat against users registering with fake emails for a free account. When an administrator is creating an account, it doesn’t apply anymore since the site admin is going to create valid accounts only.
For adding members manually, you should be using the following process with our plugin:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/manually-adding-members-site/September 6, 2022 at 7:53 am in reply to: PayPal API Credentials for Smart Subscription Button #24382admin
KeymasterHi Steve, you will see the API fields shown in the screenshot when you go to create the payment button. So make sure to go to the payments menu (not the settings menu).
Go to the following interface:
Simple Membership -> Payments -> Create New Button -> PayPal Smart CheckoutIf you read the following page one more time, it should help you see where this interface is:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/creating-paypal-smart-checkout-buttons-for-membership-payment/Let me know if that is helpful.
