KeymasterSome merge tags may not work in certain emails because the necessary data isn’t available in that context. This is expected behavior. If you let me know which specific email is missing which merge tag, I can double-check it and update our documentation accordingly for better clarity:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/email-merge-tags-email-shortcodes-for-email-customization/The formatting issues might be coming from an external source (different filtering is being applied by another plugin or theme to the outgoing emails).
Do the following test:

KeymasterAre you using the latest version of the Simple Membership Plugin? Go to the plugins menu of your site. Is there any upgrade available for Simple Membership plugin?

KeymasterHi, in order for me to provide any insight or solution, I first need to be able to reproduce the issue on my end using our plugin. Could you please share the exact steps I can follow to see the error? For example, provide one or two email addresses that triggered the issue for you. I can then test those exact email address values on my registration form to determine whether the problem lies within our plugin’s email validation code or if it’s related to an external factor, such as your site’s environment or a conflict with another plugin.

KeymasterExcluding protected content from caching is generally the best approach. This ensures that visitors see content based on their access permissions. A cached page cannot dynamically apply membership-level restrictions, so for the most accurate results, it’s best to exclude all membership-related pages from caching. That’s the approach I personally recommend and use.
However, if your site is on a shared hosting plan that struggles under load, your hosting provider may strongly encourage the use of caching. In such cases, using cookie exclusion is a good compromise. With this method, you can configure the caching plugin to skip serving cached pages if a specific cookie (such as:
wp_swpm_in_use) is present. This way, logged-in members will still see the correct content based on their membership level, avoiding confusion caused by cached pages.admin
KeymasterYes, you should be able to use the restricted keys.
I have added instructions on the Stripe subscription button documentation here:

KeymasterIt uses the “Registration Complete” email that you configure within the “Email Settings” menu of the Simple Membership plugin.

KeymasterCopy and paste the complete shortcode that you are using for the payment button. It will be good for us to take a look at that.
Is this for a one-time payment or a recurring/subscription payment?
Also, we will need debug logging info, so enable the debug logging feature then do a test transaction. Can you reproduce the issue when you do a test?

KeymasterThe log file confirms that the plugin executed the email sending code. It will be good for you to ask your hosting provider to check the mail server log and see why that email didn’t get delivered to the inbox.

KeymasterIt will be a firewall setting that is not accepting the request coming from Stripe. Try disabling one firewall related feature at a time to identify which specific setting is interfering with the Stripe communication.

KeymasterI also recommend trying the Cloudflare Turnstile CAPTCHA option, as suggested by @The Assurer. It tends to work very well in practice.

KeymasterIt’s likely that your subscription button setup is outdated. In order to verify whether your subscription button and webhooks are configured correctly according to our latest documentation, I need a fresh debug log from a new subscription checkout.
Stripe has recently introduced new guidelines, and we’ve updated our Stripe library and integration accordingly to stay compliant with the latest standards. Please follow the steps below to ensure your setup is up to date:
#1) Review the documentation:
Carefully go through the following guide and make sure your Stripe subscription button is created exactly as outlined:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/sca-compliant-stripe-subscription-button/#2) Reset the debug log:
Clear the existing debug log file to start fresh.#3) Perform a test subscription:
Complete a new subscription checkout, then copy and paste the debug log generated from that transaction.admin
KeymasterFor any premium addon, please use the following form to get support:

KeymasterNeed to delete and then re-import to trigger the emails. The following addon might come in handy to reset the members data so you can re-import:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/simple-membership-reset-settings-and-data-addon/April 1, 2025 at 4:34 am in reply to: How can I email imported members, and assign a temporary password? #30141admin
KeymasterStep 1: Verify that the plugin has executed the password reset sending email. Enable the debug logging option (if you haven’t done so already) and then do a test password reset action.
Check the log file, You should see the following line in there:
Member password reset email sent to: <EMAIL>Do you see it?
Step 2: If you see the above mentioned line in the log file, then the plugin has executed the sending of that email. Ask your hosting provider why that email didn’t reach the inbox.

KeymasterYou didn’t mention whether you’ve completed Step 1 from my previous reply. Step 1 involves ensuring that the IPN (Instant Payment Notification) feature is enabled in your PayPal account. Please verify that this step has been done first.
Once confirmed, do a test transaction and check the debug log file. If the log is empty, it usually means that your server is not receiving the IPN notifications from PayPal. In that case, you need to contact your hosting provider to investigate why the IPN notification from PayPal is getting blocked.
Alternatively, you can consider switching to our plugin’s new PayPal API integration, which doesn’t rely on IPN. This can help bypass the current issue. You’ll find more details in the “Membership Payment” section of our documentation:
