KeymasterYou can configure notifications to be sent to the member, the site admin, or both when a subscription is canceled via PayPal or Stripe.
To enable email notifications for subscription cancellations, follow these steps:
1) Navigate to the Email Settings menu in the Simple Membership plugin and select the Email Settings tab.
2) Scroll to the Email Settings (Subscription Payment Canceled or Expired) section.
3) To notify the member of the cancellation, check the Send Notification to Member option.
4) To notify the site admin, check the Send Notification to Admin option and enter the admin’s email address in the provided field.admin
KeymasterI’m not sure what exactly is conflicting on your site that’s causing the plugin to behave abnormally, and unfortunately, I don’t have any further troubleshooting ideas at this point 🙁
It seems that our plugin may not be compatible with your site setup. The best option might be to try an alternative solution instead:

KeymasterHi, Support for paid addons is handled via email. We’ve already sent you an email with some troubleshooting steps.
admin
KeymasterJust to confirm — the issue you’re seeing with the admin user account does not occur when testing with a regular member account, correct?
If the problem only happens with the admin account, please check the following items:
1) Verify the membership level:
Go to the Members menu and locate the admin user. Check whether the correct membership level is assigned to that user.2) Confirm the login source:
Make sure you’re logging in using the Simple Membership plugin’s login form, not another login form on the site.3) Check the debug log:
Enable the debug logging feature, then perform a login test. Review the login-related log file to see if any errors or failures are recorded:How to enable debug logging
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/enable-debug-logging/4) Test with a new admin user:
For troubleshooting, create a new admin user account, import it into the Simple Membership system, and try logging in with that account.
Does the login work correctly for this new admin user, or does it show the same issue?5) Perform a conflict test
Do a login test following our plugin and theme conflict testing guide to rule out any conflict-related issues for the admin user login:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/forums/topic/test-for-plugin-and-theme-conflict-before-posting-an-issue-or-a-bug/admin
KeymasterWhen there’s a conflict or issue on the site, it can sometimes be confusing because a single conflict can cause multiple parts of the plugin to fail. As a result, you may see problems appearing in several different areas.
Caching is the most common cause, but each possibility should be checked one by one.
Please start by confirming that the standard member login system is working correctly on your site:
1) Create a standard member account.
2) Open an incognito or private browser window where you are not logged into the site.
3) Log in using the Simple Membership plugin’s login form.
4) Visit a protected page and verify that access is granted as expected.
5) Browse through a few other protected pages to confirm that everything functions correctly.admin
KeymasterWe don’t currently have a built-in receipt feature. However, do you know if Stripe or PayPal provides legally compliant payment receipts for Germany?
I’m asking because Stripe, for example, allows merchants to configure country-specific invoice or receipt templates that can be automatically emailed to customers after purchase. If that option meets German legal requirements, it might be a suitable solution for your case.

KeymasterWe have added Social Login support to the After Login Redirection addon. Please update the addon to the latest version and give it a try:

KeymasterSeveral factors can influence the expiry date of a membership. The following documentation provides a full explanation of the different variables and how they are used to calculate a member’s expiry based on their membership level:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/adding-membership-access-levels-site/
Please let us know if you have any question after you have reviewed the above mentioned documentation.
admin
KeymasterThe following documentation explains this in detail:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/giving-wordpress-admin-user-access-protected-content/If you’ve already imported the Admin user account into a membership level, the next step is to make sure the access permission setup is correct. As before, there are only three main factors that can cause issues:
1) Caching
2) Conflicts with certain plugins or themes
3) MisconfigurationStart by reviewing the access permission configuration to rule out any setup issues:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/apply-content-protection/Please also go through all the documentation pages linked from the above page. If you’re using any of the other protection methods, double-check those setups to ensure everything is configured correctly.

KeymasterWe’ve updated the Partial Protection and Custom Messages addons to allow customization of the default message shown by the Partial Protection addon.

KeymasterI just want to double-check one thing. Are you certain that this post is not assigned to a category that has protection enabled? If the category itself is protected, then the post cannot be unprotected unless the category protection is removed. To make that post accessible, you would need to move it into a category that is not protected.
Category protection always takes precedence—it overrides any individual post-level protection settings.
You can see this explained in the Note section (highlighted in yellow) of the category protection documentation:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/use-category-protection-membership-site/I just want to ensure that this isn’t what’s happening in your case.
The issue you described can only occur if caching is in place or there is a conflict or if there’s a misconfiguration. It would be a good idea to first rule out any misconfiguration.

KeymasterWe have released the initial version of our own Social Login addon for our Simple Membership plugin:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/simple-membership-social-login-addon/September 13, 2025 at 12:08 am in reply to: Feature request: Partial protection centralized custom message #31511admin
KeymasterThat’s a good idea. We will add an option for it so that default protection message from the partial protection addon can be customized via the custom messages addon.

Keymaster@lindak, Apologies for the earlier confusion. To clarify, the Simple Membership plugin does create a corresponding WordPress user account for each member. This design decision was made to ensure compatibility with other major plugins like bbPress, WooCommerce, and others, which rely on the standard WordPress user system.
At this time, there isn’t an option within the plugin to disable WordPress user creation. Changing this behavior would require custom development and direct code modifications. Unfortunately, this is not something we can support officially, as it introduces complexity and potential conflicts that go beyond our standard plugin support scope.
We understand this may not suit every use case, and we’re truly sorry we can’t offer a built-in setting for this scenario right now.
admin
KeymasterAt this time, our standard subscription integration does not support a donation-based model, and this feature is not currently advertised or included. However, I’ve noted your request and added it to our internal feature wishlist for future consideration.
