Thank you, and yes it appears to be resolved. I will monitor it and be in touch by email if problems persist

No, selecting ‘Use Email Address as the Username’ has not resolved the issue (and in fact I had that option selected from the beginning and it works fine with other membership levels I’ve created before). I will complete a support ticket.

Thanks for this. I have enabled the new option. Will it fix existing forms on my site, or only new ones I create from now?

That did occur to me, but wouldn’t that affect all of the registrations from that university, rather than a minority of them?

I have turned on debug logging now. My members are staff and students in several UK universities, using their university email addresses. There is no obvious pattern (eg. one university more likely to have this error than another). I will keep a watch on this.

Thanks, I’d be very happy to pay for the addon if you can confirm that it will do the 2 things I’m asking about.

Any more advice or suggestions on this please?

Yes I am, and everything on the site works well on phone screens apart from those 2 forms.

Thanks. The imported members are all in a single Free membership level and I need to sort them into 9 different free membership levels. So unfortunately it looks like I have to open each profile individually to edit them.

Thanks for the suggestion. I might try the Invitation Code option later if I find my current method of manually checking email addresses of new registrations gets too burdensome. I’ve already given the relevant universities instructions for their students to register and I’m reluctant to change that very soon. But more immediately, there is one university I need to give free membership to, where students do not have institutional email addresses, so I might set up a separate membership level for them and use the Invitation Code method.

What I’m trying to accomplish is

    1) Free access to the protected content on my site for students at specific universities which have already paid for them to view that content (they can register with email addresses from their unversities’ domains).

    2) Prevent students at other universities (or anyone else) from accessing that content free of charge, but let them pay for access if they choose to.

This would be easier if your whitelisting/blacklisting feature could be set differently for free and paid membership levels. But I understand that you don’t enable that, and I can manage without it.

Thanks for this. Is it likely that the problems I have described are caused by the caching system on the server as I suspect? Or are there other likely causes?
