Are you using any plugins that use the WP user list? If so enable “Force WP User Synchronization”

Yes, most people signed up using plugin (via paypal button). Recall a previous post. Emails are sent via plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/bnfw/) to WordPress Users with Subscriber role when a Comment is posted on a protected page.

The first month or so (July 2017) I did not have your plugin and then I imported those few with your tool. After that all but a couple manual members are via your plugin

There are two lists: WP Users and SMP Members. Users have roles and Members are Active or Expired (or Pending, etc). I have 245 WP Users: 244 Subscribers and 1 Admin. I have 174 Active SMP Members and 98 Expired Member. I don’t delete expired members.

Theoretically, It seems I should have 174 Subscribers and 98 with “no roles.” Can these two lists be synced somehow? The plugin uses WP User Roles to create the recipients. If I send emails to Subscribers, a lot of non-Members or expired Members will also get an email.

    Hi,

I couldn’t find in docs any explicit mention of this. However I did find another plugin that did. If you want to check it out: https://wordpress.org/plugins/bnfw/

It’s use leads me to a question. The plugin can be set to send email to WP users with Subscriber role. The only users I have with Subscriber role are (theoretically) Simple Membership members. However, the number of Subscribers is much larger than the number of Active Members. (244 vs. 174)

When a membership expires, is the User’s role not changed or user removed from WP Users list? How can I reconcile the two lists such that the WP Users with Subscriber role is equal to the SMP Active Member list?

    Hi,

I’m not sure how your plugin works. I am looking for a method so that when someone posts a comment on a protected page ALL members receive a notice by default (currently only I, as admin, get a notice). An opt-out feature might be useful, but I would like all members to receive notice of comments without having to do anything except be a member.

OK, yeah, my scenarios are different. I’m curious about your scenario: As I understand it, when A level is upgraded to B level before the year is completed — say 6 months in — the member will have access to B content for the remaining 6 months and the additional year at end of 6 months?

My scenario is membership in a club with two levels: a solo plan and a family plan. Once in a while a member wants to upgrade his solo plan to a family plan. I didn’t notice that the membership was extended a full year beyond the term of current plan, after the upgrade — but it does immediately show “family plan” in system. (I am going by memory)

As I think about it, it really isn’t the end of the world if a solo plan member upgrades to family plan during solo plan term. He’ll just get the family plan benefits during the remainder of his solo plan term, and then the full year of family plan benefits. Is my thinking correct now?

You didn’t answer the questions “Does a new year start with a $20 plan? Or does he get 11 months on the upgraded plan?”

In the scenario above, assuming your answer is “a new year starts,” the total paid by member is $35 (15+20), yet he only received 1 month of the 15 plan and then 12 months of the $20 plan. This is not an upgrade — its a direct replacement

“if you want to offer a discounted price for the upgrade then create new payment buttons with the discount price then put them on this newly created page.”

To reconcile using your method a button would have to have a discount equal to the the amount of unused $15 membership (11 months). In this scenario it requires $13.75 ($15-$1.25) discount off the $20. How can I offer discount in button when the prorated discount amount can be different for any member? It would be easier to just send refunds thru paypal after the upgrade, right? Unless I hide the button page and create a new button for every request.

    Am I missing something?

I don’t understand the question. I have the mailchimp list name entered in the membership levels

I just need to know how to get current members (members before mailchimp installation) on the list, if that is possible

Aside from the group of members above, I have “normal” ones that are expiring when paid. In other words, the Access Starts date is not changing to the paid date when recurring payment is received.

OK. That makes sense. Simply, I just need to change the year from 2015 to 2016 then.

But is there a reason that date did not get updated when Paypal did the recurring charge? Does Subscriber ID need to be entered into profile if not there? (IPN is enabled)

1 yr. They paid 7/2015, imported 8/4/2015, renewed via recurring paypal 7/2016 and expired 8/4/2016. And they keep expiring after I adjust the dates and set to Active

    See previous comments and https://simple-membership-plugin.com/forums/topic/expired-accounts-that-paid/#post-7737

What is the difference between Access Start and Member Since dates found in Member’s profile? Do they stay the same for all time?
