KeymasterCurrently, the “Enable Free Membership” checkbox is enabled in your settings, but the “Free Membership Level ID” field is empty. This is a configuration error that needs to be resolved.
To fix this issue:
- Either uncheck the “Enable Free Membership” option in the settings.
- Or enter a valid membership level ID in the “Free Membership Level ID” field.
Once you correct the configuration, the plugin will no longer generate this error.

KeymasterPlease check your server’s error_log file which should have more information about the error. Request the hosting provider to send you the error_log file/message from your server so we can see the details of the critical error. That will give us more details as to what exactly is failing on this server.

KeymasterHi, The standard recurring payment API of PayPal or Stripe that we use in our plugin doesn’t offer the kind of recurring payment option you are looking for. So we don’t have an option for it.
For an automatic recurring payment system based on the calendar year, the payment plugin should perform the following actions when a visitor interacts with the subscription or recurring payment button:
- Prorated Calculation – Automatically determine the remaining days in the current year and calculate the appropriate charge for that period.
- Initial Payment Processing – Charge the calculated prorated amount for the remaining days.
- Future Recurring Schedule – Set the next recurring payment date to align with the start of the following calendar year, ensuring seamless annual renewals.

KeymasterHi, Adding the following information to this post.
I am guessing you are referring to our WooCommerce integration addon:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/woocommerce-simple-membership-plugin-integration/WooCommerce Postage has nothing to do with our plugin’s integration. When using WooCommerce to process transactions, our plugin does not interfere with the transaction processing itself. It only receives a notification after WooCommerce has processed the transaction and added the order. At that point, our plugin applies the membership level (associated with the product) to the member’s profile.
Each product can be linked to a specific membership level.
When customers, no matter where they are in the world, purchase a product and the order is marked as completed in your WooCommerce orders menu, our WooCommerce addon is notified and automatically applies the corresponding membership level to the customer’s profile.

KeymasterI believe the issue on some sites was caused by the addon’s version number formatting. I have updated it to align with Semantic Versioning, which should resolve the problem.

KeymasterThe plugin managing the subscription setup should also handle its cancellation. Canceling a subscription requires sending an API request to Stripe. It is not advisable for our plugin to access another plugin’s API credentials to send a cancellation request, as this approach poses security and technical concerns.
The other plugin offers subscription cancellation option that you should be able to utilize to give your members a cancel option.

KeymasterYou can now enable the Stripe coupon feature in the Stripe Subscription button configuration of our plugin.
