Moderator@Glyn, reading the following issue closer.
Could it be anything to do with the logout function? We have a couple of students who have reported the problem after their computer has “gone to sleep” so they haven’t logged out properly.
The above would definitely cause a problem. This is because they never logged out, so the system thinks they are still logged in. In this case the member would have to clear the browser cache. Then try to log back in. You might have to add some note, so the members are aware of situation like this.
Kind regards

ParticipantOkay but I have now tested this and it’s not the problem. I logged in as one of our members, shut the browser down without logging out and then successfully logged in again without clearing the cache. I then logged out and logged in again without a problem. It is a random problem, doesn’t happen every time.

ModeratorHi, did you read through the following troubleshooting steps?
The following was also reported by one of the developers.
You can’t auto logout user when they close the browser. This plugin doesn’t work that way. It uses standard login/logout process. So when a member logs into the site, they won’t need to log in again for a period time (even if they close the browser). Just like how it works for most membership systems.
Let me know if you need more help.
Kind regards

ParticipantI’ve sent an email to all members to see if they are still having the problem. I have disabled a plugin that might be causing the problem. I’m in a different time zone to the users at the moment so will come back tomorrow when I have heard from them and if it is the plugin I will let you know so you can alert others.

ParticipantHello,
I believe I’m having the same login issues. Login seemed to stop working after WordPress was updated to 4.9.
After logging in, it keeps getting redirected to
“You need to login to view this content. Please Login. Not a Member? Join Us”
This only started after the WordPress update so it must be some compatibility issue.
Thank you,
JohnNovember 19, 2017 at 6:14 am #12517mbrsolution
Moderator@johnb123, did you carry out the troubleshooting steps I mentioned above?

ParticipantI think the problem was with the Simple Membership After Login Redirection. I deactivated and then activated that again and it started working again.

Moderator@johnb123, I am glad to hear that you have resolved your issue 🙂

Participant@mbrsolution @johnb123, Unfortunately, that does not fix the problem. I deactivated the Simple Membership After Login Redirection and reactivated again but I still get the “login” page after successfully logging in.

ParticipantI may have sorted out my problem. Not getting any reports of login problems from members. I disabled the Yoast SEO plugin and that seems to have solved it. Might be a little early to say but I’ll advise if the situation changes. For the moment it seems that all is well. Thanks for comments and assistance. If anyone is using Yoast and not having a problem can you let me know as I would like to use it for SEO. By the way I am using Simple Membership After Login Redirection.

Moderator@Glyn, can you share with us what settings did you enable in Yoast SEO plugin?
November 20, 2017 at 11:31 pm #12541Glyn
ParticipantI actually disabled it completely. It was set for basic SEO, I hand’t really gotten into it to tweak it but it caused the site to display a blank home page when I updated the Yoast plugin the other day so I disabled it then and the home page was visible again and I noticed that the login problem seemed to go away at the same time. The login problem existed before the Yoast update however so if it is Yoast causing the problem it isn’t just the latest update. Hope this helps.

Moderator@Glyn, thank you for reporting back.
I think your issue might have been related to Yoast SEO plugin originally and this issue was never solved.
Updating the Yoast SEO plugin to the latest version crashed your home page. This led you to disabling and removing Yoast SEO plugin. By doing this you fixed two issues, the membership login problem “never resolved” and the latest issue with your home page.
Perhaps you might like to report this issue to Yoast SEO support staff, for further investigation.
I am also glad to hear that so far your membership login issue is resolved.
Kind regards

ParticipantHello,
I think this thread was hijacked! My initial issue is still unresolved. I just set up a new user SalCCCCmember2 with password SalCCCCmember2From our member login http://corkscrewclub.org/membership-login/ I continue to receive the error “User Not Found.”
Any ideas? For good measure, I again deactivated all plugins except Simple Membership. I get the same error.
Also, this is not true for every member. But I can’t same to get all subscribers accurate credentials.
Thanks,

Moderator@sezg, I have not forgotten your issue. I was trying to think what else to type here to help you.
In your thread above you said you created a new user? From the image I see that you created the user under WordPress Users in admin, is this correct!
If it is correct, did you then import this user into Simple Membership members? If you didn’t import this new user then they will not have access to any page and posts that is protected by Simple Membership plugin.
Kind regards
