Hi, I have a small membership forum at http://www.aboutwritingsquared.com – some 20 or so members who originally came through WishList, still paying regularly through paypal. For a variety of reasons I left WishList and everything has run pretty smoothly. Sure, I’ve had to help a few people figure out how to resign, but basically no problems.
A couple of months ago I decided I wanted to change the pricing structure and begin again to market the forum to writers and I wanted a robust membership plugin. I choose S2Member and began to work out the marketing etc. And now it looks like S2member is going to disappear – or maybe not, but at the moment getting support is not happening.
So my current plan is to switch to Simple Membership.
I downloaded the plugin and activated it and all of a sudden couldn’t log in to the forum as either a user or an administrator. Deactivating Simple Membership solved that problem… but….
What’s the proper procedure for changing membership plugins? If I’d kept going and configured Simple Membership would I have been able to log in once that was complete, or what?
Thanks so much for your help.

There must be a plugin conflict. Please read the following troubleshooting steps.
What’s the proper procedure for changing membership plugins?
Because you are moving from one membership plugin to another. I would suggest the following. Create a backup of your site, it is always safe to have a current backup available just in case something happens. Then you should export your current members from S2Member plugin. Deactivate but don’t delete S2Member plugin. Install our plugin and activate it. Import the members into Simple Membership Plugin. Then make sure everything is working correctly. If it is working correctly, then you can delete S2Member plugin.
Note: If you had a dev site locally using Mamp, Wamp or Xampp, you could play around with the settings and get to understand how our plugin works. You could even set up your site locally and try out my suggestion above before going live.
If the above is too much for you, then perhaps you can request for paid support.
Let me know if you need more information or help.
Kind regards
