ParticipantHi There,
I have been using Form Builder for some months. One frustrating issue is that users who have paid their fee are struggling to register properly because the plugin is not allowing them to use the same email for registration as they have linked to their Paypal.
So, for instance, if jonsmith@gmail.com was linked to Paypal, the user would not be able to use this same email to register their account.
Some users do not have two email addresses so have been forced to use fake ones instead!
Is this user error (i.e. me) or an issue with the Plugin.
Thanks,
Dan

ParticipantHi, same problem here. Do you have the solution posted somewhere?
Many thanks!

Moderator@pirmg did you by any chance read the following instructions?

ParticipantI used the Advanced Settings in Paypal, but just tried to do it as per your instructions above…
Same outcome: message is ‘[email] already taken.’
Any other suggestion?

ParticipantI’ve tried your instructions but am getting the same outcome as when I use this guide.
The problem, it seems, is that as soon as the paypal payment is confirmed, a member is created with that paypal email address. When the member finally gets to the registration form (after having received a confirmation email and clicked on the embedded registration link) and enters that same email address, WordPress is kicking it out because that email address is already taken.
This is a major issue for us. Thanks in advance for your help!

KeymasterGo to your WP users menu. Search the users there using the email address that you are trying to use. Do you already have a WP User entry with that email?
It is okay when the plugin creates an entry after the payment. However, if that same email address is already present in our WordPress system (in your WP Users area) then it won’t be able to complete the profile. Each email address for a profile has to be unique in your system.

ParticipantThanks for your feedback, but that doesn’t quite address the problem I’m facing. Let me try and explain it in more detail:
1) a user pays on paypal to become a member, using email address test01@mysite.com. That user and email address did not previously exist on my site as a WP user or as a Simple WP Membership member;
2) as a result of his payment, a new WP Membership member gets created, with the paypal-supplied credentials (his email test01@mysite.com, as well as the first and last names associated with that account on paypal);
3) no new WP user gets created at this stage;
4) a ‘complete your registration’ email is automatically sent by SM Plugin to test01@mysite.com;
5) when the user clicks on the confirmation email to complete his registration, he’s taken to the profile page I set up using the WP Membership Form Builder. Email is one of the required fields;
6) when the user enters his email (test01@mysite.com) and submits, the forms replies: “test01@mysite.com Already taken” and none of the user’s entries are validated;
7) if he enters a different email address (say, test02@mysite.com), then the entry is validated, and a new WP member is created (along with all the personal information filled in by the user) under that test02@mysite.com email address;
8) a new WP user is also created at that stage under that test02@mysite.com email address.What should I do to make it possible for that user to pay AND register using the same email address? (many folks have only one email address).
Looking forward to your reply.

KeymasterSomething is messed up somewhere on your site. I know it works fine for the scenario you explained (I tested it again myself just now). Need to figure out what is different about your site.
Are you using a WP Multi-site install by any chance? What other plugins are you using? Do you have any javascript error on your site?
August 4, 2015 at 3:22 am #2540pirmg
ParticipantHi,
I don’t have a multi-site, and no javascript error. Plenty of other plugins are running though. I can send you the name of the website via a premium support ticket, perhaps?

ParticipantStill struggling with this issue… Any advice?

Moderator@pirmg you can create a premium support ticket since it has to do with the Form Builder add-on. One question what is your current Form Builder plugin version? It should be 2.8!
August 6, 2015 at 5:45 am #2582pirmg
ParticipantI have version 2.0 installed. Hopefully updating to 2.8 will solve the problem, thanks for the pointer!
Where should I go though to download the latest version (without having to pay for it again – I purchased the version I have two months ago)? It’s not showing up as outdated on my WP dashboard, hence I can’t update it from there…
Thanks!
PS – I just created a premium ticket too (but haven’t had a response to my previous two tickets related to this problem)…

ModeratorHi, don’t worry the developers will get back to you as soon as they can.

ParticipantHi There,
I am having the exact same problem!
I have up to date versions installed of both the Simple WP Membership plugin and the Form Builder add-on.I even went into phpmyadmin and searched on the email address I was using and changed a couple of instances saved in wp_usermeta – but I still get the email ‘Already Taken’ error.
When I was using Simple WP Membership without the form builder add-on it all worked fine and the registration form auto-populated with the Paypal first and last names and the email address.
I need a solution for this!
Did anyone else get a reply to a premium ticket?Thanks
