I am trying to help a customer to complete his account by sending him a generated activation link, but we get this error when we try to use that link:
Error! You have enabled free membership on this site but you did not enter a valid membership level ID in the “Free Membership Level ID” field of the settings menu.
What do I do to fix this?
Do you have free membership levels on your site? And were you trying to activate a free membership for a user?
If the answer is “Yes,” you need to follow these instructions:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/email-activation-for-members/
Or perhaps what you really wanted to do was “Regenerate and Resend the Unique Registration Completion Link.”

Currently, the “Enable Free Membership” checkbox is enabled in your settings, but the “Free Membership Level ID” field is empty. This is a configuration error that needs to be resolved.
To fix this issue:
Once you correct the configuration, the plugin will no longer generate this error.
