When members try to register on the website using the Simple Membership form, they get the following error message:

Error! Security check failed for membership level validation.

The submitted membership level data does not seem to be authentic.

If you are using caching please empty the cache data and try again.

Didn’t have this problem before. Can anyone help?

    Mike

Hi Mike, do you have a cache plugin installed in your site? If you do have you added some URL exclusion to your cache plugin?

    Hello,

I´m using the membership plugin since 4 years togehter with the caching plugin WP Fastest Cache. I didn´t change anything but now I have the same problem as mentioned above.

I also diabeld the whole Cache Plugin, cleared all browser cache as well but the error is still there.

Please, could I get any advice to resolve the problem?

    Thanks in advance.

There are only 2 caching plugins that are officially supported:

    • W3 Total Cache

    • W3 Super Cache

In order for “other” caching plugins to work properly with SWPM, they are REQUIRED TO SUPPORT the ability to “not cache” pages, if certain cookies are in use; specifically the wptouch_switch_toggle and swpm_in_use cookies. The same ones you’d use for W3 Total Cache.

    Hello,

so, now I switched to “Super Cache” but it´s still the same problem which comes up by new registration:

Error! Security check failed for membership level validation.
The submitted membership level data does not seem to be authentic.
If you are using caching please empty the cache data and try again.

The Login for registered members is still possible.

I put the settings as recommended: https://simple-membership-plugin.com/wp-super-cache-compatibility-simple-membership/

Thanks for yout help in advance.

    UPDATE

In the meantime I haven’t run a cache plugin at all anymore (all deactivated according to the instructions and checked that none of them “hangs” on the server anymore).

I cleared the cache of all browsers (IE,Chrome,Firefox) and tried to re-register – each time with the same error as described above.

I also rebuilt all SWPM pages to avoid a bug and have a look at the documentation for the setup of this plugin again.

Unfortunately I don’t know where to look anymore and I’m desperate now.

I am happy about ideas or suggestions for solutions for this problem.

P.S.: The login for already registered users works great.

    Regards

@marie21, is the issue for paid or free membership?

If the issue is related to paid membership, check the following documentation.

    https://simple-membership-plugin.com/forums/topic/premium-membership-registration-issue/

    For the following error.

Error! Security check failed for membership level validation.

How many different membership levels have you created?

    Thank you

    Hi,

    I found it 🙂

The add.php-file was damaged … on what reason ever.

    Fixed and working well again.

    Thank you very much.

We are having a similar issue when members try to update their profiles. And yes, we are using the Membership Form Builder add-on. We are NOT using any kind of caching.

    Site: https://www.wb5rdd.org/

If someone tries to update anything in their profile they are shown this message:

Error! Security check failed for membership level identifier validation.

The submitted membership level data does not match.

If you are using caching please empty the cache data and try again.

If you are using the Form Builder addon, please update the addon and try again.

All of a sudden we are getting the same error here…

I’ve completed the form above.. all caching has been turned off on the site – and it still fails to work.

    Regards,

    Michael

I got the same error as well for the registration page

Error! Security check failed for membership level identifier validation.
The submitted membership level data does not match.
If you are using caching please empty the cache data and try again.
If you are using the Form Builder addon, please update the addon and try again.

Your most recent update broke the registration page. Rolling back the plugin to Version 4.1.0 fix the issue. The registration page now works.

Contact them via the link above… my issue was resolved really quickly.

The question I did ask is for those who have purchased the premium plugins how are they kept up to date? There doesn’t seem to be anywhere to login to check for updates etc…

    Regards,

    Michael

Yes, I (well one of our clients trying to register) discovered this error on 8 August. So pleased that there was a forum topic on this.
I used the link provided to download the latest addon version, followed the steps and all is OK again

    Thanks for the support
    Ken
