when I bulk import members their status is marked as “pending”.
I have email activation set up as per your instructions, but the new additions are not receiving an activation email.
Even when I edit & change the status to activation required.
Should the bulk import mark new additions as activation required?
Why are activation emails not being sent?December 10, 2020 at 3:01 am #21690
Hi, how are you importing the members?
Thank youDecember 11, 2020 at 7:44 am #21701
I’m using the bulk member import tool with this sample file based on your example
user_name,first_name,last_name,address_street,address_city,address_state,address_zipcode,country,email,phone,subscription_starts,member_since,membership_level,account_state,last_accessed,last_accessed_from_ip,gender,referrer,reg_code,txn_id,subscr_id,company_name test126,ZAdam,Buckham,123 malibu street,California, ,12333, ,email@example.com,12345678,30/03/2020,30/03/2020,2,active,,,female, ,,,, test127,Zfred,Bloggs,,,,,,firstname.lastname@example.org,12345678,18/08/2020,30/03/2020,2,activation_required,,,,,,,,
Test126 is entered as “active” and test127 as “pending”December 11, 2020 at 7:48 am #21702
I can write an email to
email@example.com it is received – but no activation email from the wpforms system has been sent.
If I import with “notify” ticked they get a notification email.
test126 – showing as active – can log in without having received an activation email.December 12, 2020 at 12:37 am #21706
but no activation email from the wpforms system has been sent.
Try the following troubleshooting steps.
Let me know if the above helps you.

the member bulk import is acccepting a status as active;
but when the status is “activation_required” its imported as “pending”.
If I then mark it as actvation required no email is sent;
However if the user then tries to log in they get an “activation required … click here to resend the activation email”
and on clicking an activation email is sent .
Following the link activates their account and they get an account active email – but on the email the password field is blank;
however they can at that point follow the forgot password link if necessary to get a new one.
So basically, the main issue is the incorrect import of an “activation required” status
here is the field from the csv file (using Libre Office as Excel corrupts the date fields)

The CSV import is not going to send any emails. The import simply inserts the data into the database.
The following feature will ONLY work with the standard registration form where the user is filling in the registration form (it becomes too complicated to handle this otherwise).
Our simple membership plugin has limited features. So you most likely need to look for a more heavy weight plugin (since the requirement you have for your project is beyond what our plugin has).
