Comments do not appear

Hello,
I’ve used your plugin to set up a members only area on our housing co-op website. But I can’t get seem to get the stock WP Comments to appear on posts for members. I have comments enabled in all the settings and on each post, and I can see the ‘no comments yet’ box in draft/preview mode. I can even see the ‘Login to Comment’ message in View Post mode.
However, when logged in to the members area, the comment box does not appear.
Where should I look to fix this?
The site is running 5.9, and stock theme Twenty Seventeen. Other than a TrnaslatePress and Formidable Forms, there are no other plugins running.

However, when logged in to the members area, the comment box does not appear.

What happens when you are not logged in and visiting the post, does the comment appear?
