ParticipantDear Simple Membership Forum,
I am using your plugin and so far it has answered my every wish.
However I have about 860 members I need to add to my membership levels.I followed all your instructions to bulk add users and they are now on my members list, but none of their logins work. Logins only work if I create them individually.
Please can you help? I’m so stuck!
Best wishes,
Emma

ModeratorHi Emma, are you talking about the following WP Membership -> Members -> Bulk Operation -> Bulk Update Membership Level Of Members?

ParticipantHi!
Thank you for the reply.
No, I am talking about something else.I used the instructions here to bulk upload a large number of members to my blog after I installed your plugin: https://simple-membership-plugin.com/simple-membership-bulk-import-member-data-csv-file/
When I did this, the members were all added successfully and are in my list of members, however when I test their logins, none of them work. The only way I can get a member to successfully log in through your plugin is if I add them using the Add Member tab, where I add one member at a time.
Can you please help?

ModeratorOkay that makes sense. When you tested the login what happened? Did you receive any error message? Did the members have a password added when you imported them?

ParticipantHi!
Thank you for your reply.
When I type in their username and password in the login widget or the login page, and click ‘Login’, I get a message at the bottom of the box which says: “Password Empty or Invalid.”And yes, when I imported the file, I had included a password for every user.
I would really appreciate any insights you could give me on this.March 14, 2017 at 12:21 am #10455mbrsolution
ModeratorHi the message clearly states that the password you enter is not correct. So can you carry out a test. Configure your CSV file with only one simple member with a simple password added. Then import this test member. Then test to see if you are able to log in once your import has been completed.
Report back with any findings.
Regards

ParticipantHi, thank you for this feedback.
I have performed the test you described, however the users I have bulk entered with new, simple passwords still cannot log on.Also, if I delete a user I had originally bulk added, who couldn’t log in, and manually add the exact same user with the same username and password, they are then able to log on.
Your help would be appreciated, as this issues seems to be linked to the bulk upload and not to the passwords.

ParticipantPS. Do you think it is possible that the bulk upload is not adding the passwords I specify? Or adding different ones. I can’t view their individual passwords on the plugin.

ModeratorHi, the plugin developers will investigate further your issue.

KeymasterThe user password for is not a plain text field so you can’t just import a plain password text directly into the database and expect it to work. Its encrypted using the same encryption the is used by WordPress (it is a one way encryption). This guarantees that only the user will ever know the password. This is the best security practice for storing user password.
When you import your members you need to instruction them to use the “Forgot Password” feature (standard protocol) to reset their password once and then they can log into the site as usual.
The following is a standard practice after you have changed your user management system (or imported users to the system).
Send your users an email that says something like the following and tells them to reset their password.
1) We have switched to a new system which uses an industry standard practice for storing password.
2) So you need to reset your password before you can log into the system.
3) You can go to the member’s login page (share the link to the login page) and use the password reset link to reset your password.
4) After you log into the site, you can go to the profile edit page and update your password to something different.March 17, 2017 at 11:35 am #10519emma.robinson@air4casts.com
ParticipantOK.
Please can you also tell me how to disable the automatic emails sent to a user when I edit their details?
I would like to disable all automatic emails to users in my members list.

ModeratorHi, did you disable the following Notify User while editing the members details?
