ParticipantThe server where my my site is hosted? The UK and customers from around the world.
The IPN IP address are going to PayPal as expected.
Today I had an error listed in the debug log after someone completed payment.
[2024/05/08 12:12:51] – SUCCESS: Checking if PayPal IPN response is valid
[2024/05/08 12:12:51] – SUCCESS: Connecting to: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr
[2024/05/08 12:13:01] – FAILURE: IPN validation failed.
[2024/05/08 12:13:01] – FAILURE: Error response: cURL error 28: Connection timed out after 10000 milliseconds
[2024/05/08 12:13:01] – SUCCESS: Paypal class finished. This is the first time the error has appeared.
This the first time this has happened. PayPal having the issue I would assume?

ParticipantHi,
Thank you for the reply.
Just had one just now where I received the PayPal email but did not update straight away. It took just over ten minutes for the members profile to update and for the payment to appear in the payment history tab.
For the past few, I have done the update to the member profile myself. So this is the first time I’ve seen it update automatically after the delay without myself interfering with the process.
When I check the debug log, I see the PayPal transaction but the time is not the same as the PayPal email timestamp.
So are you saying that this is a load issue on PayPal’s end? I haven’t noticed it before as it was highlighted to me via a user who reported their account hadn’t updated.
A quick google search shows that sometimes PayPal’s IPN system can be affected but is not always reflected in their status updates.
I will continue to monitor it.
Thanks,
Pete
