I feel like these people had the same issue https://simple-membership-plugin.com/forums/topic/keeps-forcing-me-to-login/

but also the moderator who said this

when a user logs in, this plugin creates an encrypted digest message using user name, password and expiration time. so if you change password while logged in, it finds that the stored digest and the newly generated digest (with new password) doesn’t match and asks you to login again.

as a temporary solution, if you change password then just logout. it will clear old digest. then login with new password. you should be fine. I will this in my todo list and work out a better, more use-friendly flow for this.

    thanks for your input.

I feel like that may be it, becuase it doesnt work again till i logout a couple times. This really is an issue i need to solve

    so to recap the issue:

    1. Login it redirects perfectly
    2. Once logged in i go to edit my profile and change password, i hit submit
    3. Im not logged in anymore
    4. I have to hit logout even though i cant access any pages
    5. I login again and it doesnt redirect im still at /membership-login/ and see my profile settings
    6. I logout again
    7. I login and now it redirects and works normal

    No, thats not correct.

I login to my account like normal, then i visit the edit profile page, and i change my password. Once i hit update nothing works correctly, i have to logout, then login a couple more times for it to redirect to the right place.

This is where it should redirect to after login https://www.screencast.com/t/4I4WiaTHw

instead after changing my password it redirects me here https://www.screencast.com/t/rUB4RnT4u which is still the login url /membership-login/

if i logout then login for a second time then the redirect works.

It’s all right now. That was a theme issue. Thanks for the replay.

I think this is just a limitation of a staging site service im using, i tested it on a real website and is working properly

Or is that what this does? format_protected_msg=”1″

This looks like you can put block messages when you already know the member group, these are people not registered on teh site yet so there is no way to know what user group they are in. This is what im trying to do

    /protected-page-1/
[You need to login to view this page, click here to register [register form 1 link] ]

    /protected-page-2/
[You need to login to view this page, click here to register [register form 2 link] ]

    That make sense?
