WordPress Membership Plugin
Thank you, your response renders the question regarding SSO moot. So Simple Membership is a layer that adds functionality to users, not a replacement for it, right? Perhaps no one else asks, but it would be nice if the documentation made that more clear.
It seems that they are the same, but I’m not the one who typically manages the members. When I looked a few weeks ago, the list sizes were different. The question is as much about the mechanics – does the plugin cross populate the “users” from the “members” and does the “users” list need to be the same or can the “users” list be relatively small (administrators/contributors) while still controlling access for the “members”? In our case, we have many members that would have access to some portions of the site, but a limited number of people who would actually provide content.
If we can maintain separate lists, on a related note, would the “members” authentication cross over to the Vanilla Forums user database that is using SSO authentication?
