ModeratorWhen a customer clicks a referral link, a cookie is deposited in that person’s browser. If the customer deleted his cookies, and then re-click the referral link, it would register as another referral.
Commissions only occur, if a membership sale is made. If the customer decides to purchase more than one membership, then the affiliate will get a commission for each membership purchased.

ParticipantI’m sorry but you didn’t understood my case…
It’s not a second flat payment, it’s an automatic rebill by Stripe, it’s a membership !
Like Netflix…
Got it ? 😉

ModeratorAre we talking about the WP Affiliate Platform?
https://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wordpress-affiliate-platform-plugin-simple-affiliate-program-for-wordpress-blogsite-1474Affiliate commissions are manually paid. And only PayPal is supported for mass payouts.

ParticipantOk i will be more clear.
I know this plug-in will not pay automatically, I mean, will WP affiliate manager calculate commission for rebills?

ModeratorI think we are working through a language difficulty 8(
- When someone clicks a payment button on the SWPM site, THAT HAS BEEN CONFIGURED to work with the Affiliate Platform, and the payment is successful, the affiliate is awarded a commission. This action takes place on the SWPM site, and is completely unbeknownst to the payment gateway (PayPal or Stripe) used.
- There is no way for the payment gateway (PayPal or Stripe) to affect the amount of commissions awarded to an affiliate. The payment gateway DOES NOT KNOW if a membership was purchased, via an affiliate.
- Recurring payments WILL NOT result in “recurring commissions” being awarded to an affiliate; because of reasons #1 and #2.
- If an existing member RENEWS a membership, using a payment button on the SWPM site, THAT HAS BEEN CONFIGURED to work with the Affiliate Platform, and the payment is successful, the affiliate is awarded a commission.
Does that help?

ParticipantYes sorry I’m French and you?
You talked about a customer who will use a button to renew a membership but I’m talking about an automatic membership renew, without any action of the customer.
So my question is still to know if wp affiliate plug-in will track commission for automatic renew?
Thank you for your patience.

Moderator“Automatic Renewals” are called “Recurring Payments.” Recurring payments are not tracked, for purposes of awarding commissions, to affiliates.
For support; our primary language is English.
————————————————–

ModeratorThe integration instructions suggest otherwise.

Qu’est-ce qui vous empêche de “juste essayer” et de découvrir ???May 15, 2023 at 9:28 pm #26145YaYa

ModeratorYou could create a “test” membership level, with a recurring payment of $1, every 4 days; just to settle the question.

ParticipantOk I did, and the recurring payment was not generating a new commission, bad news…
So is it possible with idev affiliate by example ?

ModeratorOk I did, and the recurring payment was not generating a new commission, bad news…
That’s the result I expected.
——————————
C’est le résultat que j’attendais. Here’s what happens when an affiliate link to your site is clicked:
——————————
Voici ce qui se passe lorsqu’un clic est effectué sur un lien d’affiliation vers votre site :- Your site deposits a cookie, tied to the affilitate, onto the user’s current browser session.
——————————
- When the user clicks a payment button AND IF the cookie is still present in the browser session, the affiliate will be credited, WHEN the payment gateway sends an IPN, confirming a successful payment.
——————————
The problem is that, the affiliate ONLY GETS CREDITED for the commission if the cookie is still present, in the user’s browser session. If say, the user’s browser is configured to erase cookies when the browser is closed; and the user does not click the purchase button during the same browsing session; the affiliate never gets credit. This problem will also happen, if the user uses a different device or browser; between the time they click an affiliate link, and when they click the purchase button.
——————————
There are other issues as well. The point is… recurring payments cannot result in recurring commissions. Even if you setup a membership that requires a manual renewal (new payment button click) every month; there is no guarantee the payment click will come from a browser session that still contains the original affiliate cookie.
——————————
So is it possible with idev affiliate by example?
No.

Non.May 23, 2023 at 8:33 am #26163YaYa
ParticipantOk understood.
Must be a big feature for a next update or a new paid addon 😉
Thank you for explaining.
