ParticipantWhenever I make a first member using this plugin, then my website admin account gets deleted and I cant manage my own website anymore. Then I have to call Godaddy and get them to put my admin account back in so I can manage my own website.
I make the test member using a different ID, email, browser and even computer than what I use to manage the website. Why is this plugin deleting my Admin account from this wordpress site? How to stop this plug in from deleting my admin account whenever a member registers?
Thanks,

ModeratorHi Drew, let me see if I understand correctly what you are saying.
When you create a new member for the first time using this plugin, for some unknown reason your admin account gets deleted. Is this correct? Does this happen every time you have installed this plugin and created a new member? Or is this the first time this has happened to you?

Participant@drew345
After creating a new membership user (through the plugin options panel, not a wordpress user), you’re saying that your admin account is deleted.
Silly question maybe, but:
are you trying your admin credentials through the membership login form?
if that’s the case, it won’t work: the plugin’s members are NOT WordPress members by default.
Therefore, the plugin’s login form is for plugin’s members only.
For admin access, you should use the standard access, usually http://yourwebsite.com/wp-login.phpFebruary 1, 2016 at 11:26 pm #5098drew345
ParticipantThanks for the replies, I will try to be more detailed here.
I install the simple membership plugin.
I create a free member level and call it standard.
I create a Member only page and limit it to standard members only .
I test this by opening a new browser, and trying to go to the standard member page.
I get prompted and directed to register as a member
I make a test member name “TestMember1” and use a spare email address I have (not my Admin username or email)
My TestMember1 is correctly registered as “standard” member on my website
But now, mysteriously, my Admin account has been erased from my WordPress database (even though I created TestMember1 from another browser and with another email)
I can no longer log into my website as Admin with my original Admin username and password.
I call GoDaddy and they confirm that TestMember1 is in the wordpress Database, but my Admin username has been deletedAfter going through this cycle two times, GoDaddy told me that this plugin should not be able to delete my Admin account like this and recommended that I try a different plug in for my memberpage.
I would like to keep using this plugin, but want to get this resolved before I go through the cycle again…
Why is my Admin account getting deleted from my WordPress database when a new member is added to my website?
How can I add new members while not having my Admin account deleted? Thanks

ModeratorHi, I read through your procedures above. This is the first time I read an issue like this. Your steps as far as I can tell are correct. So this is my theory somewhere along the lines while you are creating your account a corruption or conflict occurs. So before you go through the cycle again can you check your server log files? Do you have a testing platform to carry out a test? If you don’t have a testing platform can you do the following.
- Disable all your other plugins except this one.
- Create two different WordPress admin accounts.
- Create a new member and assign the member to a membership level.
- Log out from your website and make sure all other browsers or tabs that are associated to your login are closed as well. Test your new member by viewing the page that is protected.
Report back.

ParticipantIn your process above, should I create the new member (third step) through the plug-in : members : add member option? Or should I create the new member through the registration web page?
I have always been creating the new member through the registration web page before and that’s when my website admin user gets deleted from the wordpress database.
Thanks,

ModeratorHi, it is bets to find out where the the problem lies so test both methods.

ParticipantFollow – on question
If I should create the new member through the plug-in: should I be logged in as my original Admin or the new Admin I created in step 2 (or doesn’t really matter)]
If I should create the new member through the member registration page, should I first log out and close all browsers associated with my Admin login account?
Again – it is when I add users though the registration page (never tried directly through the plug-in ) that I am having trouble with my Admin account getting deleted. I read you said that the member database and the actual website database are two separate things (maybe not clear, sorry), but in my case, the member database has been definitely corrupting the website admin database.
I’ll try your procedure above when I get the clarification on that step 3. Thanks so much!

ModeratorLog in with the new WordPress admin created to add the new member through the plugin. When you carry out the other test “registration of new member from the front page” make sure you are totally logged out and all other browser tabs if any are closed.

ParticipantI logged into my website as admin with the newly created Admin ID.
Deactivated all plugins except this one.
Went to WP Membership Members page
Selected Add member
Added Member information for TestMember2 at level “Standard” (my only level).Back to Members page
I see that TestMember2 is created as “standard” level.I log out and log in to my website with the new Admin ID
I still have admin privileges (yeah!)
I check WP Members page and TestMember2 is there as “standard” level.
I check website Users page and still see my original Admin account and my new admin account both still there. (yeah!)
STRANGE! OK, this is strange. Now TestMember2 is also listed as a user for my webpage database. It is listed as role “Subscriber”
I will stop here and make sure this is OK…So when I added TestMember2 through the WP Plugin “add member” function, it added TestMember2 to the WP Membership at Membership level “standard” AND it also added TestMember2 to my website users database with “Role” “Subscriber”.
Before I proceed with trying to add a user through the subscription page, I just want to make sure that the above result was as expected. Should adding a member through the plug-in add the member to both the WP membership database AND also put that member in the website Users database?
Thanks

ModeratorYes the above is correct that is how the plugin works. You can proceed to the second test.
Kind regards

ParticipantIt worked fine this time, here’s what I did:
Restarted computer
Opened Chrome (usually use firefox when logging in as admin)
Went to my webpage (not logged in, no admin privileges)
Clicked on member area, join us, join now and finally on membership-registration page.
Made testMember3 account with new email and new password. Membership level is standard (only one level for me, and it is free).
Successfully registered and redirected to Registration page.
Clicked on Member area, now asked to login (not automatically logged in after registeration?)
Logged in as TestMember3 and redirected to home page (redirected back to Member area would be nice…)
Click on Member area and can successfully see page. (all is well)
I close that browser (Chrome)I open firefox and go to my website admin page
I log in as my new TestAdmin account
It logs in successfully, so all seems fine now thank you.
I see my WP members on the membership page
I still see my administrator accounts (along with the testMembers on the website users page.)The things I did different from when the plug in deleted my admin account was that I restarted the computer before adding the testMember on the registration page. At that time, I had my website admin account open in one browser (firefox) and was making the new testMember in another browser (Chrome) with both open at the same time. I don’t want to try that experiement again but you might try that to get to the root of the problem
I learned a lot about this great plug in through this process, thanks
I have some other questions now I will start in a new thread.
Thanks,

ModeratorHi Drew, I am happy to hear that you were able to resolve your issue. In regards to the following comment.
At that time, I had my website admin account open in one browser (firefox) and was making the new testMember in another browser (Chrome) with both open at the same time. I don’t want to try that experiment again but you might try that to get to the root of the problemIf you were logged into two different browsers at the same time while in one you were creating a new member then that probably caused a conflict and perhaps that is why your admin account was deleted.
