ParticipantIs there documentation on requirements for the username and password? I’ve had a couple people report that they are repeatedly getting an “invalid username” error in our registration form (http://simplyjesusgathering.com/join/register), so I’d like to post requirements for length, special characters, etc.

ModeratorHi, can you enable Debug Mode and then check the log file. Are the users that receive the error message, are they typing in a name with special characters?

ParticipantAccording to the user, the rejected usernames were art@brosiusgolf.com and ArtB, but when I looked in the list of members, the registration was apparently successful, because “ArtB” was shown as a user. He’s on an HP laptop using Chrome. Is it possible to have an error thrown up but still have the registration go through?
I just enabled debug mode, so there’s nothing in the log file yet. I’ll send over if I get another other users reporting the same error. So far I’ve had two.

Thank you

ParticipantWill do. In the meantime, are there any requirements for either the username or password?

ModeratorAs far as I know no, there are no requirements.

ParticipantHi midflint, I had the same problem logging in and narrowed it down to a wrongly entered password. As the user I requested a new password and followed that link, altered password, logged out and back in again and all was well.
Maybe the developers could, as some stage, isolate the error to display either ‘no user at that name’ or ‘wrong password’?

ParticipantHi SoMuch2Do, the problem our users experienced was actually while filling out the registration form for the first time, not while trying to login. An invalid username error was popping up, even while they were apparently entering a valid username (the only parameters I can tell is that the username be more than 4 characters).

Participant@mindflint Sorry about that, but that is where I had problems. I hadn’t been able to complete the registration stage as a subscriber. I tried later with the login dialog, received the error of invalid username/password and then requested a reset.

Participanthi,
Can you describe step to reproduce the issue. I can put a fix for it and release an update if its reproducible.November 6, 2015 at 1:20 am #3854mindflint
ParticipantSo far I haven’t been able to reproduce the issue, but I’ve had two users tell us that they received an “invalid username” error pop up while filling out the registration form (http://simplyjesusgathering.com/join/register). However, their registrations still went through. Not sure what caused the errors — I’ll keep trying to reproduce what these users saw and reach out if I can figure it out.
