ParticipantI have a user, also allocated admin level access, who, from time to time is unable to log in. It might be happening to other users (members) but none have told me perhaps because they think it will go away.
Indeed for him, that last two times it happened he was able to log in without a problem a couple of hours later. This seems very strange.
Last time this happened I made a page which will show all the cookie settings for him to use which I assume show the status. If I provided them to you might this help work out what the problem might be?January 14, 2023 at 5:58 pm #25042bobgarrett
ParticipantJust looking into this further and I found he last logged in 14 days previously – he has been in and out since but since he says he clicked “remember me” I assume he did not need to log in again.
So could there be some period just after the 14 days expires (the timing he tried to get in was exactly 14 days and 20 mins after logging in) where a user cannot get in again?January 15, 2023 at 12:12 am #25044mbrsolution
ModeratorHi, a good explanation about how the Remember Me option works can be found in the following forum post.
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/forums/topic/wont-log-out-when-browser-is-closed/#post-13434
This lockout could be related to a cache issue and or the cookie in the browser timing out. Do you have a cache plugin running in your site and or your server?
Kind regards.

ParticipantThank you for the response. There are no caching plugins but I suspect caching is on the server as a browser cache checker indicates one is present and WP-ServerInfo shows “memcached 1.4.33”. If this is the problem is there a solution?

ModeratorHi,
We have integration with the following four cache plugins: You can use these instructions as a guide to implement the necessary settings to Memcached in your server.

https://simple-membership-plugin.com/wp-fastest-cache-compatibility-for-simple-membership/Let me know how you go.
Thank you.

ParticipantI implemented wp-fastest-cache a few days ago and did the configurations documented.
All seemed okay until I got locked out myself today! I was only able to get back in after closing my browser and then re-opening it. Does that mean anything?January 20, 2023 at 9:30 pm #25075mbrsolution
ModeratorHi, have you also checked “memcached 1.4.33” in your server as you mentioned above? Also it looks like this is only happening to one member as you mentioned above. Maybe ask this member to clear their browser cache.
Kind regards.

ParticipantWhere do I do this? In the plugin Setting?

ModeratorThe suggestion by @mbrsolution is that, since this issue only affects one particular person; that they first try using a different browser, after clearing the local browser cache.
