    Hi, I’ve just updated WP to 4.8.1 via WP admin page and now have this issue. Site has gone down with error message:

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /clientdata/zeus-dynamic-1/c/a/cakesbyandrea.com.au/www/wp-content/plugins/simple-membership/classes/class.swpm-auth.php on line 351

    I’m no code expert so help is appreciated.

    correction: WP 4.8.1 was already installed. Just updated this plugin to version 3.5.6 from 3.5.5 and got syntax error.

    If it helps line 351 in class.swpm-auth.php is:
    \Stripe\Stripe::setApiKey($secret_key);

    Your server is using a very old version of PHP so you are seeing that error.

    WordPress recommends using at least PHP v5.6. Our plugin should work fine if you use PHP5.5 or higher. You should ask your hosting provider to upgrade your PHP to a more recent version then you won’t see the issue.

    Thanks for your quick reply admin. That fixed it. My hosting provider has changed the servers to provide current PHP so all is now working.
