ParticipantHi
My recurring subscriptions work for the first period ie after sign up, Simple Membership Payments tab shows the payment and Stripe takes the money (Sandbox mode). However the following recurring payments work fine in Stripe and are sent to Simple Membership and the sub remains active – however no line is created is created in the Payments table and the log shows Failure as “Transaction ID is empty. This transaction record cannot be saved.”
The log shows invoice.paid and invoice.payment_succeeded are sent to Simple Membership Payments:
Stripe subscription webhook received: invoice.payment_succeeded. Checking if we need to handle this webhook.
SUCCESS: Stripe subscription webhook received: invoice.paid. Checking if we need to handle this webhook.
SUCCESS: Stripe invoice.payment_succeeded webhook for subscription_cycle. This is a successful subscription charge. Capturing payment data.
SUCCESS: End of Stripe subscription webhook processing. Webhook type: invoice.paid
FAILURE: Transaction ID is empty. This transaction record cannot be saved.
SUCCESS: Transaction data saved for Stripe subscription notification.
SUCCESS: End of Stripe subscription webhook processing. Webhook type: invoice.payment_succeededThe payment appears in Stripe transactions.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

ModeratorYou mentioned sandbox mode. Is all of this happening in sandbox mode? Have you actually seen this issue in live mode? Because sandbox mode is not intended to be a simulation.

ParticipantOK, thanks. I’ll try that – sorry, I should have searched Stripe’s docs and not just Simple Membership Payments docs as buried in Stripe’s docs I have just found: “Stripe’s sandbox environment is designed for testing, not for processing real payments. Therefore, it doesn’t generate the same type of transaction IDs that would be associated with a live financial transaction.”
