ParticipantI have read through the documentation for this plugin, and I created some subscription buttons for Stripe. I also installed the Stripe Payments plugin, and integrated it with Simple Membership, per the instructions on this site.
All of that apparently works as intended. I prefer the Stripe Payments integration, because it doesn’t take you off-site. However, I’m selling subscriptions to my site, and I want those subscriptions to renew.
So, I bought the Subscriptions addon for Stripe Payments. This will re-bill the user at an interval of my choosing, e.g. yearly. However, I don’t know that this piece does integrate with Simple Memberships.
I am using PayPal buttons on the site, currently — which take you off-site — and I know that these do auto-renew at the end of the year. So, is it possible that Simple Membership will trigger the re-billing for Stripe, using Stripe Payments?
I hope this is incorrect, but it looks to me that the only way to set up recurring subscriptions for this plugin is to use the button method, and not the Stripe Payments integration. If that’s wrong, please let me know how I can use both on-site checkout, and automatic re-billing. Thanks.

ModeratorHi,

The integration process is intended so that the Stripe Payments plugin including the free and paid addons, can fully integrate and work with Simple Membership plugin.
Let me know if you need more information.
Thank you.

ParticipantThanks, I do need more information. When I activate the Subscription Payments addon for the Stripe Payments plugin, and add a new subscription plan, there is no option on that page to integrate the plan with a membership level, the way there is when I add a product. So how does this addon work with Simple Membership?

ModeratorHi, please read the following documentation. This should help you with your question.

Kind regards.

KeymasterYou create a subscription plan in the Stripe payments plugin. Then you attach that plan to a product. At the same, time you specify which membership level that product is for. The product is what tells simple membership which product corresponds to which membership level. You can create multiple plans and then create a product for each plan. You will be able to assign a membership level to any of the products that you created.
When a customer purchase the product (with the subscription plan), they are buying a membership product that will have a recurring charge (as you specified in the plan).
If the subscription is cancelled or it ends, then the membership profile will also be deactivated.
The following documentation is good to read to understand how the member’s access works based on what you specify in the membership level. It also has some details on how it behaves with a one time payment setup and a subscription payment setup:

ParticipantThank you for the explanation. I think I got it all set up, and it seems to be working as intended. Excellent!
