Hi there,
We have started to get more and more spam registrations. We previously had 5 or so every day. To combat this we installed the Form Builder add-on with its ‘verification field’ captcha. For a few weeks this seemed to solve the problem, however over the weekend we have started to see spam registrations again (30+ in two days).
Is there another captcha solution you can recommend?
Thanks!
Hi, do you have any security plugins installed? If you don’t there is one I recommend All In One WP Security which also has captcha capabilities.
So … I’ve installed All in One WP Security.
How do I make it insert the captcha on the SMWP registration form. The SWMP reg form is generated by the [swpm_registration_form] shortcode.
I am not sure how to integrate the all in one captcha with the form builder add-on. However you can start blocking IP addresses using the all in one plugin, which will start minimizing the amount of spam you are receiving. There are other settings which will help you with security and vulnerability on your website. I use the all in on in all my projects 🙂
Hello Thoughton,
Is it possible that you have used new text on the page that spammers may be looking for to signup on websites?
@mbrsolution Thanks for the reply but I really need a captcha solution (one that is more complicated than ‘type any two numbers’ 🙂 ). Unfortunately in my opinion blocking IP addresses isn’t a solution to this problem. The spam registrations are probably all from botnets anyway, so they’re all on domestic ADSL with regularly changing IPs.
@fabima Thanks very much for trying to help but I’m pretty sure that isn’t the cause. The registration page hasn’t changed since launch.
PS You must all have amazing eyesight, because the fonts on this forum are ridiculously tiny.
