While trying out the plugin,
1. I cannot find where I can modify the registration form and other forms and make it multilingual.
2. Cannot find an option to hold a registration pending until the admin has approved it.

1. I cannot find where I can modify the registration form and other forms and make it multilingual.

This feature is not currently available. However someone was kind enough to submit a solution. Please check the following link https://simple-membership-plugin.com/user-submitted-tweaks-simple-membership/

2. Cannot find an option to hold a registration pending until the admin has approved it.

Go to WP Membership -> Settings -> General Settings and make sure the following option Default Account Status is set to Pending. This allows you to manually approve the members when they register.

Thank you kindly for answering.

Yet, where can I change the registration form?
I’d like to add a text field where applicants should write the reason for their application.
Is that option in the free version, or do I need the form builder add-on for that?
