I’m being a little dense here… I’ve read the support forums and doc and I’m not getting it.

I have been using SM for almost 1 year. I set up membership to coincide w/calendar year. Fixed Date Expiry = 12/31/16. Enable Expired Account Login = Yes.

I want to create a renewal button and allow members to begin purchasing their 2017 annual membership, which goes from Jan 1 2017 to Dec 31 2017. Conversely, a new member wo joins Feb 1 2017 still expires Dec 31 2017.

If I create a new button now, and place it on my website, will it reset the expiry date to Dec 31 2017 or do I need to manually reset that? If I manually reset, it will apply to all, even members who have not renewed… what am I missing?

Hi, in plugin version 3.3.8 the following was implemented to the plugin.

3.3.8 changelog = The account renewal payment will take into account any remaining time (when the user’s level is using a duration type expiry).

Does the above make sense to you?

Remember that the button follows the membership level. So what ever duration period you add to the membership level that is what will take into play when they register.

Hello, Thank you for the response. However, I do not believe this helps me. I am not using a duration expiry. I am using a fixed expiry of 12/31/16. Our membership is an annual membership cycle and all members expire at year end.

I do not understand how I can manipulate Simple Membership to support my app for renewals to expire on 12/31/17…

Perhaps I must create a new membership type w/an expiry of 12/31/17 and use that for all renewals?

For new members, perhaps I must create a new membership type w/an expiry of 12/31/17 and replace the existing button?

Seems like I’m not understanding… help is appreciated.

When the membership expires, they then need to log in and click on your renewal button. The instructions will guide you in setting up the renewal button.

Let me know if you need more information.

    Regards
