I have created a page per SMWP instructions. However, when a logged in member with an expired account goes to the page they receive the message “Your account has expired. Please renew your account to gain access to this content.”

Hi, I don’t understand the question you are asking? Can you clarify it further.

    Thank you

    Used these instructions https://simple-membership-plugin.com/?s=renew

Step 2 says “This option will allow the users to log into the system even if their account has expired. They won’t be able to view any protected or restricted content.”

and-“Step 5) Protect/hide this “Membership Renewal” page so members are required to log into the site before making the payment.”

So an expired user login goes to a protected page and gets a message to with a link to the Renewal page OK

User clicks on link goes to renewal page but because it is protected (Step 2) he gets a message to go to renewal page!!!

Hi, in regards to the following message.

User clicks on link goes to renewal page but because it is protected (Step 2) he gets a message to go to renewal page!!!

Are you saying in the above comment that the process is causing a loop and the user can never renew their account or log in?

Yes I can’t get much clearer. I can unprotect the page and just not have it accessible via menus but it would still be accessible via a direct link. That way the renewal page can be accessed from the email link and the user can renew… but that is not how it is described in the documentation.

Let me investigate it to see if we can come up with a solution for totally expired users to still be able to see the content of the renewal page (when it is protected).

We have reworked the membership renewal feature so it will work better in the new version of the plugin.

Please upgrade the plugin then follow the updated renewal documentation:
