InactiveMy Complimentary Membership Registration page is at christiangays.com/membership-join/membership-registration/
How do I make the First Name and Last Names required please. My paid memberships are good because they are coming through PayPal but people are registering for Complimentary, often without filling in last name.
Thank you.

ParticipantMary,
I’m a user of the plug in as well. I found where I built the form an option when you click the down arrow a field that says Required. If you select Yes. You should see an asterisk on your form if successful. Mine is colored red but that maybe due to my theme.

InactiveThank you Mike. Did you use Form Builder? I did not because I am using BuddyPress for my Extended Profiles. I can find Profile Fields under Users, and I have made them required, but it doesn’t seem to affect the SM Registration page.
I can’t find where the form builder (not the Addon) is found to make sure that the fields are required. Can you help me locate the SM form please?

ParticipantMary,
Yes I use the form builder. Not sure where you would go without the builder.

ModeratorHi Mary, if you are using the Form Builder add-on did you create a new form for the free membership level with the added fields? Is that what you are currently asking?

InactiveI did not use Form Builder Add-on since I am using Buddypress Profile Fields, so basically I just need to know where I access that first registration page that has
Username
Email
Password
Repeat Password
First Name
Last Name
Membership Level Complimentary Membership is filled inRegister button

ModeratorHi Mary that question is best asked in the BuddyPress forum.
Thank you

InactiveThank you mbr but this is not a BuddyPress issue. It is a SM issue which involves the SM registration process.
I only use BuddyPress Profiles AFTER people have registered using SM.
On the BuddyPress profiles it is a simple matter of selecting “required” for each field, which I have done for First and Last names, but since this is not a BuddyPress form, the “required” isn’t effective.
I need to make the First and Last Names of the SM Registration form “required”. Can you tell me where I would find the files to make this change please.

ParticipantHello Mary, I’m wondering if you were ever able to get an answer / solution to the issue of making the First / Last Name fields converted to REQUIRED fields in the Simple Membership Registration? I have the same issue, but not finding any information on the topic. Thank you in advance — mike

InactiveHi Mike,
Sorry no. I was never able to resolve this.

Moderator@marypearson and everyone else…
There are 3 ways to resolve this:
- Use the Form Builder Addon. But for the reasons Marry stated, this is not her preferred solution.
- SWPM is Open Source software. You are free to edit the code; if you are a proficient PHP programmer. Hint: Look in the views/add.php file.
- If you are not a programmer, you can complete a Paid Support request.
Remember, if you use any methods besides the Form Builder Addon, you must forever take precautions to ensure plugin updates do not overwrite your changes.

InactiveThank you. I have been using SM now for a few years and in all that time it has not been a problem, so not going to worry about it.
