WordPress Membership Plugin
Simple Membership Plugin › Forums › Simple Membership Plugin › Looking to move current membership to a new domain — any known issues?
Hey there, thanks for all you do with the plugin.
My question is this —
We want to create a separate site around our membership. Other than notifying members of new location for the membership, are there any known issues with changing the URL for the plugin?
Any suggestions / advice will be appreciated.
Hi, can you provide an example of what you are trying to achieve?
Thank you
Yes.
We currently have a membership within our current domain. The current domain and the membership are different enough that we don’t believe the current domain is the right place to market the membership.
We are moving the membership to it’s own domain because it will be easier for us to market the membership, design the site so that it matches this brand without having to customize everything in the current site etc.
When we move the site, it will have a new base domain.
Instead of abcd.com/membership/…
it will be
efgh.com/membership/….
as an example only.
Will there be any issues moving the current membership over (cloning) and changing the domain with a simple search and replace feature?
Hi,
Will there be any issues moving the current membership over (cloning) and changing the domain with a simple search and replace feature?
No, it should all work as expected. Just make sure all default URLs created by our plugin are correct in the settings. If you do run into any issues, create a new support thread.
Kind regards
