Sadly I just got this message from one of my members. “Do we need a logout click for Members who have logged in?”
It maybe possible for all members to set up their browsers to delete history but that is not practical.
Any ideas for automatic logout? Redirection doesn’t resolve this.
The problem with not logging out is when they go back in they are forced to login again but they can’t because they are told they are still logged in.
Hi, I will send a message to the developers for them to investigate further your issue/ request.
Thank you
You can’t auto logout user when they close the browser. This plugin doesn’t work that way. It uses standard login/logout process. So when a member logs into the site, they won’t need to log in again for a period time (even if they close the browser). Just like how it works for most membership systems.
If member goes to the login page or checks the login widget on your site, it will show them if they are logged into the site as a member or not. If they are logged-in, it will show them a logout link (otherwise it will tell them to login).
You may need to look for another plugin that will handle the logout process like the way you want.
Everything works fine except this particular point. Why do you keep insisting we go somewhere else?
The only problem with your answer is this:
When someone closes the browser and the loads it again Simple Membership says they are already logged in and will not let them pass that page. It doesn’t give them any opportunity to log out either. So how do they get back in? How long is the period of time? Maybe they can use the login at the bottom of the page but I am unable to test that myself. I have asked one of the members to check it for me.
