Tagged: paypal
Hi,
I see that several others have posted this issue but have not found a solution yet. Maybe someone can poitn me to the post that has the solution, if possible?
I want to stress that MOST users that pay via PayPal will show up in the members list, get sent a registration redirect and email and can then register. But SOME users will not show up in the members list, receive NO registration email etc. How can this be and how can I trouble-shoot?
Along those lines (this is probably an easier question), if I locate one of those users in PayPal and add them manually to the members list AND copy the PayPal ID/Reference (you know, it looks like this: I-C15KU8BN8XXXX) – will this assure correct future communication between PayPal and Simple Membership, for example when a recurring payment has been processed by PayPal? Because I have added all those “missed” members manually and would like to be prepared for future trouble, if necessary.
Thanks in advance!

You can start by turning on the debug logs. Without debug logs, we have no idea what the problem is.
For every successful PayPal payment, an IPN is sent from PayPal to SWPM. Once an IPN is received, it should show up in the debug logs, and you can trace its progress through the SWPM membership processing.
If no IPN is received; it means the issue is either with PayPal denying the purchase, or a misconfiguration of the IPN setup on your PayPal account. Since “MOST” payments go through, the issue is likely PayPal restrictions on either the purchaser’s payment method, or country of origin.
