We use the plug-in in its simplest way – to keep some pages and portions of pages hidden. No payment. No bells and whistles. The plugin has been working wonderfully for a long time. About two weeks ago (same time the plugin shows an update), we got reports of the following odd intemittent issues.

    • Users will log in and the screen may take it, or it may return to the empty form.
    • Users will go to a page with protected sections and find that it is still in non-member mode – or it may be fine. (Note: We have a ‘Member Login’ button in the header that flips to ‘Member Logout’ when logged in. It has become an easy indicator of mode.)
    • Users will go to another page with protected sections and find that some work and some don’t work. Oddly, later attempts to log in may find other combinations that work and don’t work. It is random pages.
    • Doing an F5 or CTRL-F5 refresh will sometimes correct a page’s status, but usually doesn’t help.
    • Trying to logout may look like it did, but when you go to a page that had been unlocked, it will still be unlocked. Going back to the login page may show that the user is still logged in, or may show a blank form. When showing a blank form, attempts to log in as another user will show that the initial user is still logged in. It is essentially impossible to logout.

I have tried deactivating plugins, but there is no change. We are running Oxygen, so those plugins need to remain. Still, we have been running just fine for a long time and Oxygen hasn’t pushed an update recently. (The issue seems to coincide with this plugin’s latest update.) I’ve also used different browsers, different PCs, shut off the server side cache, verified all pages are https:, and tried to track some type of cause/effect. No luck. I’ve even uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin. Still no luck.

The fact that the issue was first reported 2 weeks ago, and WP reports the plugin had an update 2 weeks ago, leads me here. I’m also going to seek help from Oxygen and hosting support.

Thanks for a great product! It has fit our needs very well. -{Lew}-

The plugin does not automatically update (unless you configure WordPress to do that). Please ensure that you are using a copy that was downloaded from the official site.

Also are you using any page caching plugins or server modules?
