Integrating Simple Membership with Biometric Authentication Plug in

I was looking for some answers if there was an integration possible where I could add Biometric Authentication i.e. Using a Passkey as an alternate method for my members to log in.

Other than the “regular” SWPM login method; the only other way to log into SWPM is to sync the SWPM Member accounts with the WordPress User accounts, so that logging into WordPress automagically logs the WP User into their corresponding SWPM Member account.

With that said; you need to find a WordPress alternative login plugin, that meets your requirements.

Yeah I was looking into login with passkey, and passwordless. I’ll probably use a different login plugin to achive this intigration. A lot of websites as moving this direction utilizing FIDO2 tokens, Windows Hello, Face ID, Touch ID, Android Passkey. These are all a lot more secure than a password these days and way more convenient. Also federation with another high fidelity service such as Linkedin, id.me, login.gov, and some social media sites. Although I’d probably shy away from social media sites and rather google, Apple, and Microsoft if doing federation as they tend to be less likely to have scam accounts.

I’m still doing my own research with WordPress, but it does look like there are services out there, Just nothing directly with SMWP plugin, so have to rely on WP built in user and login interface with another plugin.

You can use any alternative WP compatible login plugin. But you’d have to setup simultaneous WP and SWPM logins; as shown here:

HOWEVER, unlike the social media login example; you may have to first have users create a WP/SWPM account pair.
