We have the “Logout Member on Browser Close” selected on. However, when we test the process as you describe here – https://simple-membership-plugin.com/?s=force+logout – using a test account and close the browser, and then reopen and ‘login’ it shows the user is still logged in. We do not have the “Force WP User Synchronization” on, could this be having an effect?August 26, 2020 at 2:55 am #20763
Hi, do you have a cache plugin running in your site or your server?
Thank youAugust 26, 2020 at 4:14 pm #20771
Hi – there is no caching plugin active on the site.August 27, 2020 at 7:28 am #20777
Hi, what about a cache system in your server? What browsers have you tested so far?
Thank youAugust 27, 2020 at 5:12 pm #20785
There is Varnish cache on the host server, but it has been set to off since we launched the site. I have tested in Edge, Chrome and Firefox. I follow the test approach in your help whereby I login, I close the tab and then the browser without logging out, then reopen the browser and when I click login the user is shown as still logged in.August 28, 2020 at 6:33 am #20793
Hi, I have submitted a message to the developers to investigate further your issue.

Question: Are you “just closing that 1 tab,” or are you terminating the browser program completely?September 1, 2020 at 1:09 am #20811
I have actually tested both ways: 1. close the tab and then terminate the browser session (close the browser) and also simply closed the browser with the same result. Test user remains authenticated like the session token is persisting somehow.September 7, 2020 at 9:00 am #20859
Hi, your issue seems to be site related. If you like you can create a paid support ticket.
Thank youSeptember 8, 2020 at 5:41 pm #20867
Wow? Ok…September 14, 2020 at 9:38 am #20882
I am following this thread because I have the same problem.
So I see now that I should create a paid support ticket.
I am a little bit disappointed because the feature “Logout Member on Browser Close” is available in basic version of plugin. 🙂
But OK – I appreciate the work of developers. I would like to know only if the problem is solved on paid support?
@ecoachit – please could you confirm?
@mbrsolution – could you advice me – maybe I just buy pro version of plugin?

There is no pro version of the plugin. The plugin itself is free. We offer free and paid addons.
The developers already know this feature in question works. So the only way to investigate further what is causing this issue in your site is by login into your site through paid support.
Let me know if the above helps you.
