Feature request: Partial protection centralized custom message

Hi,

I love partial protection and am using it on all our posts in order to show a teaser preview.

The problem is that I have a detailed custom message for each protected post that includes links to how to subscribe and register for our program. If I have to change this message, I have to change it on all partial protected posts.

DESIRED: I’d love it if the partial protection message could be one of the fields you can customize using the Custom Message plugin. It would also be nice if this message has a custom CSS class so I can style it via Appearance->Customize in WP.

I don’t think so. This looks like it can represent any custom HTML/CSS snippet as a shortcode. I want the custom_msg property of swpm_protected to be a centrally defined variable so I only have to define a common custom message in one place for every partially protected post.

EDIT: Tried a similar plugin (Shortcoder) and confirmed this doesn’t work. The message renders but Simple Membership Plugin doesn’t protect the rest of the post. Pretty sure that this is because I’m using a shortcode to output a shortcode.

So… what you are asking for is to define these customized messages with some kind of global message variable?

Yes, I’m using that feature. The problem is I use the *exact same message* for every post I partially protect:

`[swpm_protected custom_msg='<span class=”uj-insider-protected”>The rest of this article is for Insider subscribers only…..</span>’]`

We currently have 25 posts partially protected (and growing!). This means that, if I ever have to change this message, I need to change it in 25+ posts manually. That’s not ideal.

My request is for the default partially protected post message to be customizable using the Custom Message plugin so that I only have to ever change it in a single location.

Does this make sense?

That’s a good idea. We will add an option for it so that default protection message from the partial protection addon can be customized via the custom messages addon.
