Expired members can still see protected content

I have gotten everything working including registration and logging in, and unregistered members cannot see the restricted content.

However, if I set a user to expired, and (even after logging in and back out again), the member can still see the protected content, even though I have ticked protected on the restricted page, and ticked all the membership levels. There is no ‘free’ level on my site.

Is there something im missing? Cant find anything on google on this issue

Are you using any page caching plugins?

No, and also, if I log out, I cant see the protected area. The problem is only when logged in on an expired account
