ParticipantCurrently, if a person buys a membership they get an email with a link to register and I get notified by Paypal a payment was received. If the buyer doesn’t get the Email link there is no other way to contact that person. How can a phone number be required in the initial buying process? (Note: I put warnings and notices in red block letters by the buttons to avoid this but it doesn’t work half the time.)

How do you know the buyer didn’t get the Email link?

Moderator- Does your Membership Settings screen shows a lot of members with “Pending” membership state? That is the membership status for members that do not complete the registration process.
- In addition to the PayPal email; do YOU ever receive any notification emails from the plugin, when a member registers?
Please set/check:
WP Membership –> Settings –> Email Settings –> Send Notification to Admin
And:
WP Membership –> Settings –> General Settings –> Enable Debug
Then perform a test registration. A successful test will show the new member with an “Active” membership state.March 4, 2018 at 2:56 pm #13562Newbie10924
ParticipantI only have 6 incomplete memberships out of 227. I get two emails from PayPal when a membership is purchased and then I’ll get the Notification of a New Member from the plugin. (Which is a copy of what the buyer gets). Everything is fine when they get the link and click it to register.
If they don’t click it or if they don’t get the email. I have no way of contacting the buyer outside of email. Also, I check to make sure the log file shows the email being sent out and every time the email is sent. I do find Hotmail, Yahoo, and .Edu seems to be the common denominator. I use Post SMTP plugin with a gmail account.

That’s the problem. Your outbound emails are a victim of aggressive “From address” vetting, because the “From” address does not match the domain of Gmail’s SMTP server. What’s wrong with using the SMTP server that comes with your hosting package?

ParticipantI use gmail for everything and wasn’t aware I could use GoDaddy’s SMTP.

ModeratorCheck your hosting package. Usually, outbound SMTP is included.
