ParticipantDear,
I read all the documentation about the new European online paiement rules and the Stripe and SM plugin documentation about SCA buttons. My websites are running in Europe. But I am still confused as when I compare my existing (old Stripe Subscriptions buttons created with Simple Membership) buttons with the form to create a new Stripe SCA Subscription button. The only difference I can see is that field “Trial Period”. As I don’t offer trial periods, do I need to replace all my old Stripe Subscription buttons with the new Stripe SCA Subscription buttons?

Do I need to create Stripe SCA Subscription buttons to replace the old buttons?

ParticipantDear,
And do I also need to recreate new products in Stripe or can I still use the existing products with the existing Stripe API IDs?

ParticipantHi,
Well as you probably know, to create a stripe subscription button, one of the required fields is the Stripe API ID (ID of the plan that you want subscribers to be assigned to. You can get more details about it on following page https://simple-membership-plugin.com/sca-compliant-stripe-subscription-button/).
1) To get a Stripe API ID you need to create a product in Stripe.
2) The Stripe API ID is generated by Stripe (when you create a product in Stripe) and has to be copied into the Simple Membership plugin field “Stripe API ID”.As I already created in the past all my products in Stripe and used the generated Stripe API IDs to create my SM buttons
As you told me recently that I need to recreate all my old Simple Membership Stripe Subscriptions buttons by using the new “Stripe SCA Subscription” buttons from Simple Membership plugin
I want to know if I need to generate new Stripe API IDs by re-creating the same products in Stripe. So the question is : when I recreate the new SM buttons with “Stripe SCA Subscription”, can I use the Stripe API IDs I used with my old Simple Membership Stripe Subscriptions buttons, or do I also need to create new Stripe API IDs (that starts with plan_…)?December 14, 2020 at 9:58 pm #21726mbrsolution
ModeratorHi, thank you for clarifying further your question.
can I use the Stripe API IDs I used with my old Simple Membership Stripe Subscriptions buttons, or do I also need to create new Stripe API IDs (that starts with plan_…)?
You need to create new Stripe API Ids that start with plan_.
Thank you

ParticipantThe old Stripe API Ids already starts with “plan_…”. Do I really need to create new ones?

ModeratorHi, in that case no. Give it a try and let me know what happens.
Thank you
