Is there a setting to disable automatic WordPress user creation? I found the “Force WP User Synchronization” option, I tried disabling it, but the plugin still keeps adding users to the WordPress user list automatically whenever a new member registers. I see that this plugin has its own user table, so I hope there’s a way to disable the WordPress user creation.
Thank you for this plugin I love the simplicity!
Both of these settings are disabled in my SWPM. Yet, WP user accounts are still created by the “Complete Registration” process–meaning, if the member uses the link in the initial email and completes their registration (adding username and p/w) then they are still added to the WP Users.
If a member doesn’t complete the Registration process, they cannot login later. Is the completion of the registration process forcing the creation of WP User? Can it be prevented otherwise?
@lindak, Apologies for the earlier confusion. To clarify, the Simple Membership plugin does create a corresponding WordPress user account for each member. This design decision was made to ensure compatibility with other major plugins like bbPress, WooCommerce, and others, which rely on the standard WordPress user system.
At this time, there isn’t an option within the plugin to disable WordPress user creation. Changing this behavior would require custom development and direct code modifications. Unfortunately, this is not something we can support officially, as it introduces complexity and potential conflicts that go beyond our standard plugin support scope.
We understand this may not suit every use case, and we’re truly sorry we can’t offer a built-in setting for this scenario right now.
