Hi, some users are clicking on the registration link after they’ve already registered, and they think they’re stuck because the screen shows:
“Error! Invalid membership level ID! This membership level does not exist. You may have deleted this level. Check the membership level ID and correct it.”
I’d like to add or change this error message to say “You’ve probably already registered. Click on xxx to go straight to the paid content. Any difficulties, contact me”.
Any way to do that? (simple steps, please, I’m not clever with IT!)
I only use one level.

Thank you for reaching out to us. I have submitted a message to the developers to investigate further your request.
Kind regardsMarch 9, 2020 at 1:30 am #19904
That message should never be seen by your users. So there is some kind of mistake somewhere in the setup. That is the bigger issue that needs to be solved on this site. Then that error will not show up anymore.
Are you deleting membership levels that users have purchased and they are trying to sign up for it?March 9, 2020 at 10:52 am #19906
Thank you for helping me with this.
Users are trying to sign up for ONE membership level. I have only set up one level, which users buy access to using WooCommerce.
I’m not deleting any membership levels.
I believe the error message occurs when users get confused and click on the membership registration after they’ve already registered.
I’m not sure how to include screenshots here so I’ve put them on a google doc here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NAOn5rTIjgflnWywHwa1u9DGTkCYdhgK8Mwugv6ueec/edit?usp=sharing

Hello, please could you have a look at what is wrong, if you say that message should never be seen by users?
I continue to have users emailing me because they see this strange message coming up.
Just to remind you, it’s happening when people click on the registration link without realising they’re already registered.

Hi, a new feature was added in version 3.9.8 as mentioned below.
Added a new feature to hide the registration from to logged-in members. The new option is available in the Advanced settings menu.
Have you tested the new feature yet?

Thanks so much, I wasn’t aware of that.
Yes it is working. Though the same ““Error! Invalid membership level ID! This membership level does not exist. You may have deleted this level. Check the membership level ID and correct it.” message comes up when I test across devices or delete cookies.
So if a user registered once via their computer, and then got confused (it happens quite a lot) and clicked the email link again from their phone for example, they’d get that ugly error message. I wonder if you can address that in your next update?
Thanks for helping me — it’s a lot better already.

““Error! Invalid membership level ID! This membership level does not exist. You may have deleted this level. Check the membership level ID and correct it.”
Do you have the Form Builder addon installed in your site? If you do, check to make sure the correct free membership level ID is entered in Free Membership Level ID settings. This is located under WP Membership -> Settings -> General Settings.

Thank you for your response.
Yes I have Form Builder.
I don’t have any free membership. I use only one (paying) membership level ID 2.
(People may get access to it for free using a coupon in Woocommerce and that’s how I’m testing it. Does that make a difference?)
So in WP Membership -> Settings -> General Settings I have left “Enable free membership” unticked, and “Free membership level ID” shows 0
Is that a mistake?
So far my registration and profile forms with Form Builder were for “All levels”. I’ve changed it to just the one level I use, but it has made no difference.
I have another (maybe related?) issue, which worries me a lot more: only some confirmation emails to clients are getting through to them. So the invitation to register (with a link) gets through, but after that, confirmation to them and to me, that they have registered, has stopped coming through since I changed web hoster. I tried to fix it by using Sendinblue SMTP service, but no success.
I’d be really grateful for some help.

Hi, because you are using a premium addon, please create a premium addon support ticket. A developer will help you out with your issue.
