ParticipantHi, and thanks for the great product. I love bulk “Activate and Notify” feature. I have several hundred members in the database and have included user_name and password for all of them. I’d like to send their login information in the email notification.
However, I can’t seem to print any dynamic info to the email. It’s coming through as:
Username: {user_name}
Password: {password}Is there a way to do this? The only solution I can figure out is to send the users to the password reset page, force them to input their email, submit, check the email again for the dynamically generated message and THEN login.
I’d love a solution, even if it isn’t bulk. How can I activate an account and mail them the credentials?
Thanks for your ongoing support.February 9, 2017 at 12:04 am #10087mbrsolution
ModeratorHi, when you activate an account a message will be sent to the member letting them know that the account has been activated. As long as you enable the following feature Notify User for each member.
Just a few questions. How did you create your members? Did you import them from a csv file? Did the members register through your site? Did you manually add each member?

ParticipantThanks! I understand all this. I successfully imported my users from your CSV template, and I included a username and password for each so they don’t have to create them. Now I’d like to activate their accounts and send them login credentials.
It appears that the Notify User function, though helpful, doesn’t send login credentials. It’s only a generic message and link. I’m trying to find a way to send the users their credentials…ideally in a bulk function.
Thank you!

ModeratorI now know what you mean. Did you by any chance read the following documentation?

ParticipantYes, thanks. But even when you send this email, it does not provide the password. I sent:
Username: {user_name}
Password: {password}The email only showed the username:
Username: sezg
Password: Your current passwordSo I am still trying to find a way to set up new users and email them their credentials.

ModeratorHi, the plugin developers will investigate further your current issue.
Thank you

KeymasterYou can’t include the password in that email because the plugin actually doesn’t know what their password is.
The password is kept in the database in an encrypted format (this is the best security practice for storing password).
If the user has forgotten the password, then they can use the reset password function.

ParticipantThanks for the response. That’s what I’ve been doing…sending a “Welcome to the website, please submit your email at this url and you will be sent a password.” I was just hoping there was a less awkward way to inform users that they have an account.
Thanks anyway.
