ParticipantHi there.
This may be complicated but I hope you can follow.Testing in sandbox mode…I created a sandbox pmt button in paypal. Then as a test user, I clicked my (pp sandbox) SUBSCRIBE button on my website. It took me to sandbox mode paypal and I paid just fine and clicked Return to site (pp button redirected to protected page on my website).
Then I watched the MEMBERS list and kept hitting Refresh, and suddenly, there was the new member in the list.
I also simultaneously received this email:
Dear testuser testuserThank you for purchasing the Motivational Quote of the Day.
Please complete your registration by visiting the following link:

Thank You
When I clicked that link it took me to the registration page, where I tried entering my user name and email, but of course, since the member already showed up in the member list using the email, it said on the registration page, “email already in use” so I couldn’t register.
I KNOW it’s something I have set up incorrectly. Did you follow this? Can you help me fix it?
Thanks,

ParticipantThe way I have it set up is that I have the PayPal button on the membership-join page. I have them go to PayPal and pay first then they receive the e-mail with the link and are routed to the membership-registration page.

ParticipantHi Linda,
Thanks for trying to help. My join page IS my subscribe paypal button page. They join by subscribing. And then just like yours, they receive an email confirmation link to take them to the registration page. But ON that page is the field for the email, and because it already put them in the SM members list, it=f they leave the email field the same it will say, email already in use”. I don’t understand why it adds them to the SM member list before they actually register. I just don’t get it. Is your setup doing that?I’m open to any more suggestions.

KeymasterI am pretty sure you are testing with an email address that is already being used by a WP User account. Maybe your admin account is using that email address. Check the list in the WP Users menu and you will see that email address being used already.

ParticipantSo…after paying in paypal, the user SHOULD NOT be added to the members list, until after registration, right? If so, that just doesn’t bear out, because I watched it add the new person to the members list right after paying with paypal. And then looking at the Registration page fields that it was inviting me to fill out as the new person, their email was listed there and if I left it, it would say “email already in use.”
I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but I know it shouldn’t be this hard.
I’d honestly be happy to private message you my admin login credentials and let you have a look at it.
It’s SUCH A COOL PLUG IN. I really REALLY want to use it if I can. {meekly} please help me?
Losing hair by the minute,

Right after paying in Paypal, this page has 3 screenshots of how my SM members list looked, how my USERS list looked, and how my REGISTRATION page looked. As you can see, shawndady@icloud.com is not in my USERS list. It just appeared in my SM members list right after paying in Paypal, thus causing the problem you see on the registration page.
Thanks.

KeymasterPlease do your test with any other email address but the one you used and you will see how it works fine.
