I love this plugin so far but really want to use it to restrict certain pages. Can all the membership levels be free to start? When I go to the settings it requires me to put in the free membership level ID. Can I make four different levels all free? It does not seem to prompt me that could be an option by putting a comma after each level ID.

For instance, can I put this in the free membership level ID box: 5, 4, 3, 2

Meaning I want all four membership levels to be free right now? I may decide to make one or more pay at a later date.

This “may” help you…I am using Simple membership plug-in not for a “payment” classification, but for a customer separatetion “firewall”….

So, anyone who first registers is always getting my “free” membership ID level one….Once I have validated that the user belongs to customer #1 or customer #2, then I re-assign their membership (call it a paid level) to a different level. Yes, each customer is limited to one specific page (or set of sub-pages), but you could simply repeat the “bronze” membership code onto the “silver” membership page..

But all customers start off with no access as “free” members validated by the moderator.

Not sure I totally understand. So do you leave the “Free Membership Level ID” blank in the settings but check the box above that that reads “Enable Free Membership”. How do you handle the settings because I want to accomplish the same customer separation firewall as you.

We will add an option for this in the plugin.

Can you give me an estimate of when the option will be added on an update?

This should be done within a few days.

    Charlene,
I’m using this plug-in maybe slightly differently, but all of my users are “free” they’re just registered differently.

So, it starts with anyone registering here:
    http://www.controls.com/oem-private/

Then, I created a membership level titled “not yet approved by moderator”. The system sends me an e-mail alerting me that someone is trying to register. Yes, this membership level is designated as “free” in the settings.

Once I moderate the person, I put them in a different “free” membership classification based on what pages they are allowed to see.

The following addon will allow you to make multiple free membership levels:
