ParticipantI have followed the steps on this page: https://simple-membership-plugin.com/giving-wordpress-admin-user-access-protected-content/
and successfully imported my admin users as members with “Admin Access Level” membership level. Then I’ve opened each protected page and checked the box next to “Admin Access Level” to grant access to that content.
Still, when I am logged in as an admin user and I visit a protected page, I get the protected content message with link to login.
Any idea what the problem could be?
Thanks!September 10, 2015 at 6:48 pm #3010newvibe
ParticipantAh, I realize now that even though I was already logged in as the admin, I still have to log in on the membership login page to gain access to the protected content. I’ve done that and it works great.

ModeratorHi, if you are the admin user of your website, follow these instructions. It will give you access to the protected content without you having to log in again. Let me know if this helps you even further.

ParticipantYes, I had followed those instructions. It seems that as soon as I logged out and logged back in, everything worked fine and I no longer needed to log into the protected area separately. So, just in case my case is not isolated, you may want to add a fourth step of log out and log back in – or not 🙂

ModeratorHi, thank you for your suggestion. I just thought you would like to know the fourth step has been added 🙂

ParticipantI’m a bit confused. I want to make changes to the site as WordPress admin, but if I follow @mbrsolution suggestion (https://simple-membership-plugin.com/giving-wordpress-admin-user-access-protected-content/) then I cannot access the wordpress backend. I get the SimpleMembership (SM) page to say I am logged in as Admin. I logout (screen acknowledges this) and retry logging into the backend but again get the ‘logged in’ message. If I remove this admin user from the SM users then most of the time I can login to the backend, but of course cannot view any protected pages. I have also cleared cache and cookies but cant get a satisfactory method of working.
So question: is it preferable to set up site with no protected pages and then when finished protect a page and use a user ID that is in SM’s members? I’m reluctant to use the admin SM setup. Your help would be appreciated. I like the simplicity (ie no bloat) of this plugin.November 26, 2015 at 10:20 pm #4253mbrsolution
Moderator@SoMuch2Do you might have a plugin conflicting with these settings. I have this setting set up in one of my testing platforms and it works for me. Check the log file if you have Debug Mode enabled.

Participant@mbrsolution I do not have any other plugins activated and when I add the admin to the ‘alladmin’ level etc I cannot login to WP backend despite clearing cache etc. I had enabled Debug Mode, but it didn’t shed a light.Just showed I logged in and “checking the redirection. I logged out and closed the browser, clearing cache and history. I was able to login next attempt and to view a page correctly. I logged out of WordPress and relogged in. This time it showed I was Logged in as
admin64
Account Status Active
Membership AllAdmin
Account Expiry Never
Logout
I managed to login to WP and the debug logfile shows[11/27/2015 11:36 AM] – SUCCESS :After login redirection addon. Checking if member need to be redirected.
[11/27/2015 11:44 AM] – SUCCESS :After login redirection addon. Checking if member need to be redirected.which doesn’t help as the first entry shows the login when I can’t get to the backend and the second when I can access the backend.

ModeratorHi, have you tried different browsers? Would you be able to check the log files in your server? Maybe even try to enable debug mode in your website, please check the following documentation. Then log in and see what is displayed.
