WordPress Membership Plugin
Simple Membership Plugin › Forums › Simple Membership Plugin › Activation emails (PayPal IPNs) not arriving
Hi
I just setup a subscriber button on my WordPress multisite. I have Post SMPT plugin handling emails (tested and working).
All emails get through except for the email with the activation link. So I get the following warnings from PayPal: “PayPal Instant Payment Notification warning:
Please check your server that handles PayPal Instant Payment Notifications (IPN). IPNs sent to the following URL(s) failed:
https://mywebsite.com/subsite/?swpm_process_ipn=1
I enabled debug mode and tested. Looked at log file and no log file was available. So I reset the log file and tested again. Now the log file just shows: SUCCESS: Log file reset. Tested several times – same result.
Could this be a hint as to what might be wrong? (The Simple Membership directory is writable).
I contacted my host but they say, ‘the automatic function of the plugin seems to have an issue’
I’ve read all documentation and relevant support requests here. I double checked all settings, disabled all security plugins, removed server spam filters.
Hi, please check the following documentations to verify which method you used to create your PayPal subscription button.
Method 1: This is not using PayPal’s new API.
Method 2: This is using PayPal’s new API.

Kind regards.
Hi,
Thank you so much for your help.
You have shown me the way.
I implemented Method 2 but selected ‘PayPal Subscription’, not ‘PayPal Subscription (New API)’.
All is working well now. Thank you again.
