Since installing SM I have had problems with my memberships expiring even though they have been paid. It was suggested that I change my 1 month subscriptions to 33 days to allow for any time differences. I did that.

Today, July 28, I had two memberships expire that were paid on July 24 and July 25.

One member subscribed on May 25. The other subscribed on June 24.

I noticed that the Access starts date was June 25 for them both, so I’m assuming that the access date changes with each payment received. Is this correct?

If this is how it works, then why is SM not recognizing the payments that have been made.

My IPN was wrong. It was corrected on July 19.

Can you tell me please what triggers SM to expire? How does it work? Does it get notification from PayPal that the payment has not been made? Does it get notification from PayPal that the payment has been made? Which?

I’m trying to figure out the process in an attempt to fix my problem. Would appreciate any input that might help.

    Thanks!

Hi Mary because your IPN was wrong and it was corrected on July 19 as per your comment above. All members that signed up after July 19 should work correctly.

In regards to the issue you are still experiencing perhaps now that the IPN is set up correctly maybe that issue might be resolved. What you can do is monitor any subscription made after July 19 and report back if you still have an issue with your expiring period.

In regards to the following questions.

Can you tell me please what triggers SM to expire? The settings “date period” in the plugin will trigger the membership to expire.
How does it work? Does it get notification from PayPal that the payment has not been made? Does it get notification from PayPal that the payment has been made? Which? SM and PayPal communicate with each other and PayPal will report to SM that payment has not been received or that the account has expired and then SM will not allow the member to log in unless you have enabled Enable Expired Account Login located under Advanced Settings tab.

I will say that this is very strange because out of the thousands of people using this plugin so far you are the only person that I know that is still having issues with the expiring period.

    Kind regards

Thank you mbr. Yes I am optimistic that things will work with the memberships who register after July 19.

I’m also hoping that after Aug 19 the others will work too.

I’ll just have to wait and see.
