Participanthello
I wonder how add-on are maintained updated when a new version is released.
I have, for exemple installed, a couple of years ago, “SWPM Misc Shortcodes” which appears to be version 2.1.
while I just see here https://simple-membership-plugin.com/simple-membership-miscellaneous-shortcodes-addon/ (readme.txt file) that the add-on is in version 2.6 if I am not wrong. Is there an automatic update in place like for the plugin itself?
If not, how to update the add-on? Do we have just to re-upload them?
Is there a mean to be notified when an add-on update is available?Thank you

KeymasterHi, The most used addons are uploaded to wordpress.org so it can be upgraded from the admin dashboard. For example the following addon:
https://simple-membership-plugin.com/configure-login-redirection-members/Some of the small addons that are not used that much yet are not on wordpress.org. Maintaining a wordpress.org page requires a lot of effort so it is not worth doing that until the addon is used by many users. These ones you can download directly from our site. The process to update these are the following:
1) Download the new addon
2) Deactivate and delete the existing one from your site.
3) Upload and activate the new one.You don’t lose any settings configuration or data during this process so it is safe to do the above steps.
Let me know if this answers your question.

ParticipantMany thanks.
Your reply is quite clear. Is there any mean to be informed when there is an update for an add-on which is not on wordpress.org ? For example a newsletter that inform about a new add-on or an update of an existing one ? Or a webpage to follow ?

KeymasterFor the free ones, we don’t have an option like that yet.

Participanthello
For the paid add-ons how can I be noticed when there a new version available ?For example, I have among other paid add-ons : https://simple-membership-plugin.com/simple-membership-email-notification-broadcast-addon/ in Version 1.2.
How can I be sure that this add-on is still compatible with the current version of SM ? Where is the “New feature” lists and their compatibilities of the add-on ?
Also, how can I see the current available version of simple-membership-email-notification-broadcast-addon ?
Thanks

ModeratorYou must redownload the addon and look at the PHP file. If you have the latest SWPM version, the addon should work. Also, for production environments, it is best to not fix anything that isn’t broken.
