Can you explain what will happen if a member renews before the end of their current membership? We have annual dues that are due at the beginning of each fiscal year. I currently have the expiry date set to Feb 1. What happens if the member pays in Dec or Jan prior to the expiry date? I have a fixed expiry date set. Do I need to change that expiry date to the following year sometime before the end of the year in my membership levels to make sure the new timeframe is registered? I thought I saw a thread on this previously, but could not find it.

Thanks, The plugin and add-ons are doing everything we need now.

When a member logs in, and then renews their membership; their expiry gets extended by the amount of time purchased. So, if their expiry is Dec 31, and they renew for 1 more year, their expire should extend to Dec 31 of the next year.

How is the amount of time purchased determined when you have a fixed expiry date? I currently have a fixed expiry date for an annual payment, not a floating number of days per payment. This does not seem to answer my question.

Is this what you were looking for?

No that is not what I am looking for. That is a link to the same issue, but does not have a resolution to the annual date Expiry question. Your documentation says “If the payment is made by an EXISTING member then the membership level (associated with this payment button) is applied to the existing member’s profile.”

When members paid last year on my site, the membership level said it would expire on Feb 1 2019. Now I want it to expire on Feb 1, 2020 for the upcoming year. If I change the existing membership level expiry date to expire on Feb 1, 2020, does that change the expiration of all the existing members to 2020, or does the new membership level expiry date only apply to those that renew / click on the payment button? If you can answer that question directly, I will know whether I need to create a membership level / payment button per year, or whether I can just change the existing expiry date of the existing membership level and use the same payment button.

Changing the fixed expiry date of a membership level immediately affects ALL current, renewing and future members; as the members table simple_wp_swpm_members_tbl relies on an index into membership table simple_wp_swpm_membership_tbl to determine each member’s expiry date.

If you can answer that question directly, I will know whether I need to create a membership level / payment button per year, or whether I can just change the existing expiry date of the existing membership level and use the same payment button.

You must create a membership level / payment button per year.
