I have seen a handful of questions about this from years ago with comments saying that it is on the to-do list. Have they gotten around to it in some way that is not immediately apparent in the settings?
Or is there a solution out there for modifying the plugin to handle this?
We are heavily invested in using Simple Membership and it’s add-ons and we have just realized there is no reminder system in place.
This is definitely on my to-do list. I have worked on a few bigger features for the plugin which were more important. So haven’t gotten to this one yet.
Generally, when the renewal is very important, our users tend to use the subscription payment option. When you use a subscription, a reminder is not needed anymore as the subscription payment just comes in automatically.
We have a nice integration with subscription payment. Have you considered using that?

Unfortunately, the auto-renewal is not something their members want, partially due to the demographic that is involved. Also the client doesn’t want auto-renewal just based on the headache of expired cards.
They really just need a way to prompt them easily. The only alternatives I can think of are going through the list of expired users periodically and manually sending each a message from their member page.
Or building some sort of add-on that will run this through wp_mail as a batch.
Do you have an estimated timeline for the development of this feature? if it is soon, I may tell the client to hold off on developing anything new.

I did duplicate another post on this subject (sorry for that) – but can I echo the comments above.
We’ve just moved from a platform that used email reminders – and now we don’t have them it’s the one thing that really annoys our members (I understand why!).
I’m really keen to hear when this is available – and I know it’ll be something that our members will really appreciate!

Just wondered if we were any closer to getting this live.
We’ve spent a fortune on addons for this, and I’m really not wanting to have to move over to anything else.
The software works really well, but this is a key feature missing.
